It's coming. Be patient.

Some of us only play this game for giant mech battles. I miss respawn from MW3 and 4. Why can't you guys add this? You can keep the other game modes for the hardcore "sim" players (as if this game is anywhere close to simulating giant mech warfare anyway).

Also a capture the flag mode with respawn, You gotta stand in the enemy base to hack some files or something and then after downloading the files you gotta make it back to your base to upload them to your serves for a point.

These game modes are prevelant in many shooters and sims for a REASON, because they are FUN.

This game is currently in beta, so there is only one game mode right now as PGI works things out. But death match doesn't sound very appealing to me. Mechwarrior has always been about accomplishing a set of objectives, which don't always include killing all of your enemy. Also respawning is completely unrealistic, very C-bill costly, and seems rather lame. This game is already unrealistic enough with the big stompy robots, we shouldn't throw all sense of realism out the window. So keeping the fact that once your mech has been disabled, you are out of the fight does add a bit of realism.

Deathmatch mode sounds fine, but PLEASE NEVER ADD ANY KIND OF RESPAWNS TO THIS GAME!

If you want to repair your mech, then please add mech repair bays that can be destroyed by the enemy instead.

this. Drop ship Assault mode would be fun. I tend to not think of it as Death match as we brought lots of mechs and so did the other guy. Still needs objectives, otherwise we all know that one guy in a fast mech would just avoid everyone till time was up.

This also opens up variations. like Defenders have less re-spawns but obviously are well, defending the objectives the assaulter must take. could get interesting!

as for Free For All, no. unless its Arena matches or something. it just doesn't make sense from Canon perspective otherwise. Arena should eventually be included but its not something i personally care for.

Really hope there will be a TDM mode, because the modes we currently have are so short, would be nice to get into a big fight, a real big map scarred from all the battles fought there and just respawn and play for like 15 to 30 minutes...

Expanding on this, you select 4 mechs from your mechbays, then drop one-by-one, 4 lives total in different mechs. It will be interesting to see, since it's full on DM. Lights can avoid fighting till opponents have used up a few mechs, then drop in a heavier chassis.

I don't want to see a respawn mode, personally - not even the dropship one PGI has talked about before. However, I *do* think that a simple deathmatch mode would be good... and frankly, it and several other extremely simple ones should have been implemented well before a complex mode like Conquest that we are getting. Attack / defend (capture the base with only one base active - so there are established roles) and deathmatch (as mentioned above) would both take a matter of minutes to implement and are automatically balanced already.

I good suggestion I saw/have is to keep all the objective-based games for community warfare and keep death-match/team death-match in a Solaris style arena.

I honestly find death match boring as all shi.t to play....especially if respawns are allowed. However I get that people want it, I'd just keep mindless circle-jerk deathmatches away from the galactic warfare scene.

Whether or not you find it fun doesn't ultimately matter though.

Also circle jerk? Reminds me of current assault. One team zergs one way, the other zergs the opposite, and a base is capped within a minute based on who was stacking the most ECM lights.

Thinking Mans Shooter indeed.

I like the idea of Dropship Mode (i.e., having only the mechs that you brought with you) instead of endless, monotonous spawning and spawn camping.

With repairs out of the game and the CW meta pretty much dead, this mode shouldn't be a problem.

I wouldn't mind a mode where people get a set amount of respawns or "tickets" that can range it from 50 tickets for all the players on each team (in which heavier chassis cost more tickets) or just 2 lives per player.

you want to be stupid and rush base, go ahead; I have enough time on my hands to kill you again and again.
-So long, and thanks for all the salvage.

No need to be rude, people. A respawn (or limited respawn) FFA or TDM mode would absolutely be welcome. It breaks up the monotony of capture objective type games, and the realization that you can respawn would absolutely change up how people fight in the mode. A Mechwarrior type death match is not at all the same feeling as a HAWKEN style clusterfrak because of the pacing.

Right now, we have a mode where you either kill he enemy or capture the base, and an upcoming mode where you either kill the enemy or capture MORE bases. That is not much in variety. A king of the hill style thing (secure the HPG?), TDM and DM, respawn capable game modes, and perhaps even a Convoy type mission mode would be great.

More modes is a good thing. Hell, more modes has been a popularly requested thing. A stupid response like "HAWKEN is over there" does nothing to address anything. At all.

I will add as an edit: Any game mode with respawn should absolutely NOT reward XP or CB. It would be for funzies, not serious play.

Why is it needed.. The thing that will make this game last is getting the community Warfare going.. ANYTHING that slows that down is a BAD IDEA. They have to do enough goofy stuff already to keep the 12 years olds interested and the investors happy..

As long as its implemented in a way that doesn't break immersion too much (for instance your mech pilot brought multiples of the same mech to the battlefield via dropship or something), sure. Part of what makes this game fun for me is the immersion level.

you want respawn go play MW3 or MW4. respawn allows for dumb players to play dumb and be 1 trick ponies who have no idea. sorry but the thing that makes MWO interestingt o me is no respawn.

the closest we'll get to respawn is when hot drop is brought in and the 4 mechs you can slect will be the 4 you get to drop in when 1 dies, the next drops, once all 4 of yours are dead, game over, no more mechs. Such a better idea than respawning.
