The most common missions in Btech are objective raids really. how do we not have a game mode where say, there are 3 ammo dumps on one fourth of the map, and the enemy team has to get in, destroy them, and escape the map with as many mechs intact as possible?

Sounds pretty good to me. I guess there'd be an issue in terms of ensuring both the attacking and defending sides have an equal chance of winning. Either constant tweaking until 50/50 prob. of success is achieved or a bonus for winning to the team that is at a disadvantage would be a good way to go about doing it.

Whatever, sounds cool to me.

Good idea!

Perhaps giving bonuses for the attacking side for a lack of losses as well as giving bonuses to the defending side for enemies destroyed/ammo dumps protected?

(EDIT: poorly worded)

Make it so the "prize" is worth the raid, not the battle. Raid is a quick strike, grab 'it" and git!.

The git is also needed, grab the prize and get beck to your "escape zone"?

And in this way, no team could avoid contact totally unless through BRILLIANT maneuvering, and even then, you could move to try and cut off the escape!

That's cured by having the teams switch sides after a victory, and whoever completes the round in lesser time, or escapes with more mechs, wins.

I agree, there should be objective based missions. Who wants to destroy munitions storage facilities? I do. ;)

grand idea! make each match actually be two drops long: each team has both a defend and a raid drop. of course, you need a LARGER map to do this, with some more interesting locations to defend..

Attackers and defenders, Primary and secondary objectives for $ and victory for primary. More $ the faster you complete. FOr defenders, more $ the longer you hold up.

Then the map resets and switches your side. If a player drops, it takes a rando to fill their slot.

Simple, fast, and 100x more fun than the current mode.

THey are called static defenses. The defending side with the ammo caches have static LL defences to help protect. They have a large area to defend so gives the attacking side some advantage to even the play out. You also have power generators like in Mechcommander and gate generators that you can send light mechs with jj's in and destroy to disable gates/turrets etc. Now how much fun would that be??

how bout a raid mode where u capture enemy sub bases and for each capture u get a piece of a mech like super weapon and when the mech like super weapon is complete 1 random member from each team gets to use said mech in a brawl against an enemy mech of slightly lesser power like a mech Vs mech showdown and the battle is decided on pure skill??

little too much crazyness i think shadow but sounds more fun than onquest. everyones gettin too complicated. a raid should be a race between the defenders and attackers to cause destruction and know when to move in/out of enemy ranges
