Hey all, I took some time this week to write up an intro guide covering some of the basics and more meddlesome parts of joining the MWO world. While all the info covered in my guide will probably be old hat to most of the people on this fourm, it may be a good starting point for a new player you are trying to get into the game.

Check it out and let me know what you think! http://www.destructo...ne-240746.phtml

Read it all!

It's written very well, very informative and I think it'll be a great help for new Pilots. The way you formatted it, as well as the pics to spice it up, is really great.

I just wanted to say thank you for the guide. It really helped me figure out a few things I didn't understand.

phenominal intro. Gave me lots of food for thought and helped up my game some by explaining some things which the tutorial vids don't cover.
Thumbs up.

Thanks! I feel kinda bad that a lot of what I said about the trial grind is untrue since the latest patch. I might have to edit it.

I guess you need to update how trial mechs and repairs work now, I stopped reading shortly after that section due to it being 3am lol. But it was good up to there, made me remember getting used to the controls, this is my first mech or tank game. They really need to make trials face other trials only, or get that ELO system implemented, the latter being the better option. Trials only matches you'd still have people that knew how to play just in em for EZ money.

Indeed! The ramp to get new players in the game is so rough, it would be nice if they got to play with other trial or novice players instead of just being dumped into the shark tank.

I would love to see some matchmaking modes that only permitted trial or stock mechs. I love to make me some min/maxed OmniMechs, but I think it would also be fun to have 16 dudes all furiously watching their heat bar and trying to place all 15 of their shots from the shallow default ammo stores :(

This right here is what will get me to truly start spending money on this game. I bought one $30 pack of MC when they had the 20% bonus so I wasn't missing out on said bonus and because I wanted an Ilya Muromets. I want to buy some premium time but won't until there's a true skill-based matchmaking system. There's times when I just get roflstomped multiple matches in a row and it kills my desire to play for a few days. I would hate this to be during my premium time and have my money be wasted.
