A. At the moment we are not following up with combined arms (tanks, hovercraft, jets etc.)[/color]

I like the idea of battlemechs being another weapon, even though in their universe they are THE weapon, as they weigh the same/less than tanks and carry the same/more arms/armor.

I agree wholeheartedly, however i wouldn't mind a few extra options in-game such as, if you eject mid-battle, say you get the opprotunity to use another vehicles weapons to strip some armor off the mech that hit you? Id go for it. But I feel there would be some foul-play, and people would just rush headlong into battle, do a really good amount of damage, then eject, and use the guns on a tank nearby to finish the job. For now, id say stick with the mechs, keep it simple, and see what people think. Then add in as requested.

True, unless there was a penalty for losing said 'mech, such as money loss and repairs, or complete loss of the 'mech. (Mind you, might not be a good idea due to the increased difficulty, but there could be an interesting dynamic there.)

It also means a dilution of the core game, i.e. 'Mech vs. 'Mech combat. There are already games (the board-game, MW:LL to name a few) where you can play with infantry and fighters and the like.

Well it's kind of disappointing, but thanks for pointing me toward the statement!

Aerotech Onile would play tomuch like EVE online can't imagin Battletroops Online (squishy online, watch your step) If there is any expansion to BT, it will be where you fight (Clan Space, Periphery) and maybe WHEN (Liberation of Terra, the First SW while the nukes are still falling)
Always though combining Mechcommander with Mechwarrior would be interesting but I doubt one player would listen to another. Mechcommanders would be redused to spectators while Mechwarriors may not always enjoy someone barking oders to them during a fire fight.

True, and it is fun in the original game, but it would also be nice to have a more hands on, less third person experience. (I have yet to try Living Legends, so I don't know what kind of scope it has.

Oh yes, I was only theorizing the concept as expansions, not the base game. I agree with you wholeheartedly.

I understand where you're coming from, and in the perfect world I would love for this game to have those combined-arms elements. Unforunately, Piranha and IGP are small outfits with a rather limited budget, so I don't think they could do the concept justice. It would be nice if they could cater to everyone, but reality tends to bite people in the *** for it.
I don't know, perhaps one day we'll see this idea come to fruition once the developers have made a buttload of $$$ from the frothing fanboy masses.

Exactly, it would require tactical play, thinking players.

Perhaps, perhaps! In the meantime, I will do everything I can to help ensure that that day comes...

Well on my opinion the all PGI needs to do it's built it as a skill for the commander and just make them a bit simplistic on patterns.
Examples: Commander can call down a Shilone wings to perform a pattern attack over a fixed area of terrain. (now the battlemechs can just move of the area if they are fast enough (there can be FF) or just shoot them down on the last moments before they reach the target destination.
or a Harasser squad can be assigned to a Mech warrior, the squad will just move in formation around the Battlefield and attempt to attack such mechwarrior target when given an opportunity (just like a DMG bonus if they hit, but still destroyable before they can do serious harm)
I don't expect them be a player choice to be handled like MWLL but mostly a cheap , easy help to side the battle.

Could be interesting, I wouldn't be able to resist the urge to be one of those tiny soliers running around and trying not to get killed lol.
