was contemplating playing Mech Commander 1 & 2 again. but downloading the Mechcommander 2 Wolfman x mod, it adds like 40 new mechs.

But I saw this video from Mechcommander 1 and thought it was amusing.

anyone remember the good ol' days of Mechcommander?

or this for that matter

I loved the MechCommander games. Though I still have nightmares about the defend the farm mission. If you ever played you know the one I'm talking about.

*shudders*..... yes i dreaded that mission. Didn't we get basically not enough resources to even do that mission properly?

if I remember correctly I didn't have enough mechs and or pilots, and my amount of weapons were of poor variety.

I always beat it by using a Mine Layer to quickly cover the enemy approach with as big a mine field as possible. Knowing how to issue movement commands in setting up a grid was vital.

Heh, I the way I relied on mine layers to achieve most of the missions meant the game should have been called MineLayerCommander.... :)

My main shtick was my custom Scout Mech. I would always make sure to have one really fast, jump capable Mech, with long range weapons, and advanced electronics. I would use it to sneak in places as a scout, jump walls, cliffs, water, etc to get to turret/gate controls, block enemy sensors, and generally go about things as tactically as possible. The speed, armor, and jump jets would let it get and out of places it shouldn't be. When a real fight came I would have it run back to the main force and let the heavies do the actual fighting while my Scout supported from the safety of long range.

Really makes me want to make a custom Raven in MW:O. :P

Just dump out its crap weapon payload and install an ER Large Laser and that Raven is a real ***** for your OpFor. A mech with decent speed, advanced electronics, and a long range pop-gun, Oh yeah they'd really LIKE you then.

Ah yes, it's how I came to MW4. While waiting for MechCommander 2 to come out, I picked up MW4 and gave it a try, ended up sticking with it for the past 12 years lol.

MC1 was the beginning of all my online gaming.

Wish I could find both Mechcommanders, I don't think I ever finished either one. I remember playing the SEGA one with a friend, one of use controlling the movement and the other firing the weapons. Would love to be able to get the orginal Mechwarrior to run correctly on a newer PC but any solution I've tried it just doesn't work right. I have got both the Crescent Hawk games to run alright though fun for a couple hours of abuse. I thought at the time Crescent Hawks Revenge was so cool because it had voices.

My favourite game of all time. My brother picked it up when it first came out.

I remember not really understanding the parameters of the third mission with the madcat properly, so I must have played it about 50 times destroying everything I could to get the mission to end, and it never did. About three years later I finally read the briefing and found out I was supposed to find a Raven somewhere on the map. Derp me.

But even with that hickup I loved the game for the three missions I played over and over again. [my computer couldn't run MW3, and MW2 wouldn't work because I had the ati 3d rage edition and no longer had the card.]

The mission with the farm house was my bane, but was so satisfying when I finally completed it [without a minelayer, briefings are for chumps], and every mission got harder and harder. The satisfaction on completing each prgressive mission was amazing. Never felt anything like it since. The only time I got stuck was near the end and you had to attack the oil refinry and then defend it from attack in the same mission was waaaaay to difficult, so it was then I decided to bust out the cheat codes. I think it was the third mission from the end of 30 missions, so Mis27. Good times though.

That's why I actually preferred MC1 to MC2. While MechCommander 2 had better graphics it was like easy mode. In the first one you actually had to think things through and strategize. In the second one you could just bash your way through.

I never really liked how MC2's LRMS/SRMs looked like Kix Cereal with engine trails.

Some of the acting was more blatantly horrible than others lol.

Same here. Mechcommander 2 wouldn't run on my computer for a long time. When it did I played throught the campaign in one sitting in one night.

I liked the acting! Better than most stuff in movies and on tv these days.

I always liked the intro to Mechcommander. It's how I always imagined how an online mechwarrior game would play out with strategy and using a pointer on a map to show other players where to move. Still have both games too!!

Oh I hope if MW:O is successful that someone will be inspired to make a MechCommander3... and that they actually make it challenging like the first one. Not like the easy mode that was MC2.
