Ecm+Pugs=Realization

With the lack of a tutorial and the fact that the vast majority of pugs most likely never come to the forums how in the world do would they know anything about the ecm counters. (yes the are sub par but the point is valid).
Would a new player even know when a target was tagged or hit with a narc?
Would they even know to help a lrm boater by running one much less how to use it?
What would their experience be?
They would just see the massive bonus the ecm gives without having a clue as to anything else.

Never assume your opponents are ignorant. You'll see A LOT of people running cheap mechs with TAGs, so they have some kind of tool to use against the typical ECM fatlas.

Fatlas is slow and fat. He now has ECM and a little team of interceptor craft swarming him, like a protoss carrier merged with an arbiter.

Most the time the Atlas is too slow and no one wants to move that slow. In most the battles I've been in the medium and heavies have no ECM until the atlas catches up and even then we have either moved on or in another fight out of it's range.

I'm usually the fatlas. It's funny when you switch to heat vision and all these TAGbeams kinda blind you.
'who gave all these centurions laserpointers!?'

I ran an Atlas once and didn't like it much. Right now I'm running a heavily modded CFT-1M (wish they would have given it a name I could remember). The change from pre-ecm to now is so nice, never before in all the years I played battletech did I ever have to worry about losing my mech in less then a minute to solid streams of missile fire. But thats what was happening pre-ecm, cover? Thats a joke perpetrated by the easy mode crew trying to belittle the issue. Now missiles are back to what originally intended by the creators of BT.

The constant oscillation of imbalanced strategies is actually what gives me hope for this game more than anything. If they couldn't figure out how to nerf something and made it unuseable (LRMs are not in my opinion, I see them used to great effect with as support) it would be a worse sign. Even the weapons that are weak at a given point are only really suboptimal, not unuseable.
One night this weekend I spent playing with a pair of friends and was playing whack-a-mmando with my AC20. It was seriously the most fun I've had playing this game. There is literally nothing as funny as whomping them with one shot to the face or leg and watching them flat out die or be devoured. Especially the stupid ones who think circling with lag armor makes them invincible.
Just hit them on the tangent line of the circle they are running compared to your position (obviously you have to be outside the circle) and it works like a hilarious charm.
