(IDEA) Heavy Grenade Launcher
2 ton,
1 ballistic slot,
1 damage,
240m range,
zero heat,
500 rounds per ton,
0.5 second reload,
slow flight speed,
arc to target/surface
.
There is a space between the machinegun and the ac2
I propose a heavy grenade launcher
I'm not sure this will work with the Lore, Cannon, Dogma, Mythos of the mech warrior universe
.
and a good Clunk Clunk Clunk sound as it fires each canister

I think the only grenade launchers in BT/MW are infantry weapons, but the weapon between MG's and AC's would be the machine gun array, which is basically 2-4 MG's mounted together firing as one.

well there was that one weapon in MW4 where you had to kill all the pods before they could get into orbit. Forget what they called it but it was kinda like a Heavy grenade. launch it and everything in a given area would get a bit of damage.

You're talking about the long tom artillery.
http://www.sarna.net...Artillery_Piece
Heat 20 Damage 25/15/5 Minimum Range - Short Range - Medium Range - Long Range 30 Maps Tons 30 Critical Slots 30 Ammo Per Ton 5 Cost (unloaded) 450,000 Ammo Cost (per ton) 10,000

I must admit, it would be a cool weapon to have.

Unfortunately that won't be released for another 19 years, and I don't think the game will last quite that long.

There are also the "Rifle"-type weapons described in Tactical Operations.

Quote

A weapon system hearkening back to the early twentieth century, vehicle-scale rifles (or cannons) were either rifled- or smooth-bore weapons designed with lower reloading and firing rates compared to even the smallest standard autocannons of today. Relying more on larger-caliber rounds and greater concentrations of propellant to deliver their damage, these weapons were developed by various Inner Sphere and Periphery manufacturers for centuries before the autocannon rendered them obsolete. Today, very few are produced in the Inner Sphere (where they are often lumped into the category of retro-tech), while the Clans have abandoned these weapons entirely.

Light Rifle: 3 tons, 1 critical, 3 damage/shot, 1 heat/shot, 18 shots per ton of ammo, range of 360 meters
Medium Rifle: 5 tons, 2 criticals, 6 damage/shot, 2 heat/shot, 9 shots per ton of ammo, range of 450 meters
Heavy Rifle: 8 tons, 3 criticals, 9 damage/shot, 4 heat/shot, 6 shots per ton of ammo, range of 540 meters

Unlike the Machine Gun Array (which isn't timeline-appropriate, since it is invented in 3068), the Rifles technically exist at this point in the timeline (though, they are rare due to being considered generally obsolete).

However, the canonical BT rules call for the Rifles to subtract 3 units from their damage/shot when used against anything that isn't infantry or civilian vehicles (which lowers the Rifles' damage to 0, 3, and 6, respectively), and they cannot make use of the ACs' special munitions...
