i know this probably isnt the right place to ask but i figure if i do it here theres a bigger chance ill get help. im a total noob on installing it so could someone show me exactly how to install it? ive got it running but the instant it starts loading it closes

omfg...do not suggest mektek...i followed their instructions word for word and like every time, the only thing that happens is loading and then it closes due to some kind of error...if your going to suggest mektec, suggest it for the download, not the help...im sorry if its offensive...i dont mean it to be its just ive followed everything and still the same **** happens

Alright, first thing I have to ask is, are you trying to install from a disc, or download from Mektek? (The Mektek downloaded version is pretty much the only worth while install.)
How far do you get when you try to install?

i would be using mektek. and it installs right, but the loading screen pops up, it loads all the way and it closes and nothing happens...

If you're running in Windows7, then right click the Mechwarrior 4 shortcut and go to properties, and fin compatibility, and run it in the XP Service Pack. Try it then.

wait so running it with the service pack would be an option when i right click? is that the same way you would run mechwarrior 3? mw3 wont run on win7x86 but ive heard that it runs perfectly on xp. i know what partitioning is but i dont want to risk effing up my computer.

and are you trying to say run it with xp? cuz i already tried it on my old xp and still got the same result. gets to the loading thing and closes. i could run mw3 on it fine but i miss being able to go invincible and slaughter wave after wave of daishis and atlas's. and i cant do that on my win7...

Right click on the shortcut, then go to properties. There should be a Compatibility tab on the new window that opens up. There should be a dropdown menu near the top of the window. Click the little dropdown arrow. Select with left mouse button the Windows XP SP2. Click apply.

Additionally, you could try right clicking the Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries shortcut and going to properties again, then on the shortcut tab, find the target box. add in one of the shortcuts that the user nano on mektek has in his sig. might be /GosNoVideo.

would this work with mechwarrior 3? cuz i know how to install mechwarrior 3 but it wont install on win 7. does mw4 still let you do the whole customize weapons and go unlimited health and all that?

Necro a very old post about MW4 Mercs, NOT MWO and for your needs, definitely in the wrong section, luckily I was just skimming when I came across this but hopefully your issue has already been resolved but if not, the following:

1st, set your system clock, for the patching itself, to May 6th or earlier. The patcher is trying to update your system with the necessary microsoft software that MWO needs to run.
