I love X3.

The solution makes the game feel like an arcade game. For me the thrill is fighting for survival and victory because defeat means a bruised pride and a hefty repair bill.

What - it didn't feel like that before? That big flashing 'BASE UNDER ATTACK' doesn't seem arcady to you? The 3rd person view when your mech bites the dust? Spectator Mode?!

You know how it is when it's just you and 3 other guys left - 3 other guys on the opposite team I mean? Odds were good if you pulled a victory out of that mess, a lot of the guys on your team who got their mechs killed early would have made more on the match than you. Heck - Even some of the guys on the losing team might have made more c-bills than the guy who pulled off the epic1v3 victory in the final 5 minutes. That would have been owning to the whopping repair bill the hero got stuck with for doing such an excellent job.

No more financial punishment for being able to take a licking and keep on ticking seems an excellent idea to me.

Let me see.
I have 20+ mechs, and will buy 3 stalkers when they get released. Then I'll max them. Now I get rewarded for my gigantic damages and hard work, while DHB don't get anything from avoiding fights. So...

I guess I get the last laugh again. Or will they show Kong up on 8 manz with their LRM atlases again?

WTF does DHB mean?

They don't really need to have both.

Also, let's be fair, R&R discouraged playing XL engines, Ferro armor, Assault mechs, and missile mechs more than it discouraged being stupid.

Which was the whole point of it. Now why would anyone NOT run all the lostech? Not that I'm bitching yet. After 20 years of game playing I'll wait until I try it for a week or so before I condem it.

Truth. Also, "most people I know, did not rearm any-waaaaaaa-aaaaaa-aaaaaaaa-aaaaaaa-y"

God I'm old. And i concur heartily; what's the point of charging for ammo repairs if people can easily circumnavigate the cost anyway? And what's the point of driving a stomping engine of destruction if you're afraid of getting the paint scratched? Any pilot willing to mix it up shouldn't be penalised for doing so.

To me this isn't a solution - I'd rather have my entire team form AFK or disconnect and have my mech destroyed in a hail or laser fire than have mech magically repaired at the end of each battle.

But it is already magically repaired at the end of every battle if you have the checkbox checked. And on average people will make about the same as they would have after repairs now. So if you look at it all it's really doing is forcing everyone to repair while letting them run all the equipment without having ridiculous and arbitrary economic values balancing things.

Honestly though, I would argue this is the smartening up of the new user experience. I remember getting through my trial runs only because a friend of mine was in a unit and I was able to play in a team from the very beginning. It wasn't bad for me, but would have stunk if I tried to pug. It still took me a day to be afford my Hunchback SP. I probably would have given up if I were in a PUG, but if it only took 5-6 matches to get there, I would have stuck with it.

The mechlab is what makes the game the most addicting anyway! If anyone else plays TCGs they might feel similarly, but it scratches the same itch as building new decks. You get to make it, try it out, test, refine, retest, until you get to a build you feel is perfect. Then repeat for a new varient/chassis. This is the hook, and should be experienced as soon as possible. I ended up buying MC because I wanted more mech bays and more mechs.

Of course this biggest difference this change makes for me is that I now have 25% more ammo each game! Which is nice as I used to run out.

Oh, and 8 million more for my Stalker fund!

What is the point of playing if dying means nothing. This is what made me quit MMO games (Evert quest, WoW, etc).

Now I can expect to see complete stupidity on the battlefield since there are no consequences to dying.

I am NOT looking forward to this patch.

My bet is that stats will grant special favors in CW.

So that the stat padders will end up being the highest ranks in the different factions

On lostech usage.

I am hoping that without the economy as a balancer (and it was a TERRIBLE one) the will look into upgrades to make sure they become more sidegrades and be choices with downsides not straight upsides.

XL engines are like this - DHS are a little bit like this with current implementation - Endo and Ferro up straight upgrades for lights but the heavier a mech is they become more of a choice as crit spaces become scarce.

Balance based on performance and in game mechanics not meta game mechanics ftw .... i hope

Did I seriously just witness someone complaining about spectator mode after death?

In a video game?

Damn.

Or understand the R&R removal may be a temporary thing while they collect data on Conquest mode. You are making assumptions that these changes are set in stone. Since you got into Beta either before or at the same time as me, you should know otherwise.

you are making assumptions its temporary, unless you can link to where they said so

So you cry about a difficult barrier to entry, you cry about RnR being removed, what else will you cry about? Let them test it and measure the results before acting like an ***. It's BETA.

I am going to enjoy saying this so much it shouldn't be possible.

LEARN 2 PLAY DUDE.

DONT LIKE IT LEAVE!

ITS JUST A BETA I MEAN GOD.

MUWHAHAHAHAH

by the by, the penalty for dieing is that you make it more likely your team lose.

Losing means you played badly and didn't help your 'faction' when CW comes out.

. . .

double edit:

Don't forget the sky is falling.

Was the getting 1/2 to 3/4 of a million per match permanent? Was getting 25,000 to 60,000 a match permanent? The data for my assumption would be on my side because it's based on observation and fact.

I wasn't complaining about it. I was making the point that the game is already plenty arcady owing to spectator mode, among other things, and that the removal of R&R doesn't make it any more arcady than it already is.
