I'm right now playing one of the greatest movie games of all time (StarTrek Online)I'm a StarTrek Fan as well as a mechwarrior fan since i grew up with both genera types startrek space movies and games as well as robot movies and games.Startrek online is such a fantastic game for RP and PVE players but it is failing in the PVP aspect of the game which is limiting the money they have and will make and they are losing allot of young prospects that would have stayed longer with the game and spent there's or there parents money in the free to play store.Hopefully they will fix the pvp aspect and all the fans can be happy with the game and keep it online.
As i read and look through all the comments from the Dev's and fans and past players i also see the spark of hope for this game from new players to the Mechwarrior Universe the question i have to ask is (Will it be enough) for the very intelligent kids that still play PC Games. In truth i think the Dev's are counting on all the old players to bankroll the game and keep it alive so they can make a profit and attract new kids to the game which is OK with me.To me the new mechwarrior game will probably be fun but will be allot like past mechwarrior games have been without a true character to create and call my own to skill up and be part of the Battletech universe as Startrek online does so well to make you part of the Startrek Universe. Also no PVE online to replace the Campaign mode of past free standing PC games might be a big downfall of MWO.
We have to say will it just work with the new graphics and sound and rule sets? Or have we seen all that the Dev's are going to do before launch of the game. For me the best parts of all the past mechwarrior games were all the fun times i had from all the aspects the mechwarrior games had to offer Campaigns PVP online mechlab instant action freedom to make the game into my own Battletech universe through RP and tabletop. I guess like all the rest i will just have to wait and see how it all turns out.

Ok you lost me at the first sentence, as I was still under the impression that STO was a steaming pile of disaster.
This is the new 'genre' of online game, no persistent universe, no toons, no WoW style mash the # buttons and get hilarious amounts of currency you can't really do anything with.
They are making an attempt to further refine the FPS 'genre' (vehicle FPS? V-FPS? MechPS?) by carving out more ground that a few other games have started in on(I will say WoT here, although they were not the first FPS instanced game, but one of the more successful*/currently visible, with an * by successful, as I'm not going to get into the circular flame war that is WoT).
There are 8 'mech' style shooter games (of various RTS, FPS, and arcade styles) coming out this/next year.
STO/WoW is dead, long live MW:O (and it's ******* cousins).
