definition of frame bug (my glitch) game runs around 45-50 fps (using F9 key in game) at some point during match, game drops to 4 or 5 fps for 5-10 seconds making game unplayable.

ok that being said, many posts of frustration by myself and others led me to not play for over a week. I found this by accident.

Go to task manager, look at CPU usage with system running nothing (just windows desktop).

what I found was under processes, CPU usage column.

windows media player network sharing was showing a value of 99.

went into control panel/programs and features/turn windows features on or off and turned off windows media player.

I played about ten rounds with this setup and frame rate bug never happened once. frames stayed consistantly above 25 with an average of 35-45. just to check my findings, I turned windows media player back on and frame rate bug happened first test drop.

if this helps one other player who felt the frustration and angst I had it will be a success.

feel free to pm me if this works for you. I still wonder if I am crazy, just seems to d*mn simple of a fix.

The real framerate bug people get (where its 4 (actually 1, dxtory and fraps confirm), is a memory leak, which you can visually see if you have 4gb of ram as distant textures are corrupted.

This won't do anything for me. I have overall CPU usage less than 30% when playing the game.

Do you have any proof that the issue is caused by a system memory leak? It seems more like a problem with VRAM, either a leak or corruption, based on the textures issue. I didn't see a system memory problem in Resource Monitor with 4GB of RAM, but I did experience the texture corruption and incredibly low framerate.

be advised that other games like FIFA 2013 may stop working as they require windows media player.

Just to note, for the OP and a few others, it is an INTERMITTENT drop in FPS during a combat drop, regardless of what is happening during combat.

The same can be said for disabling File Indexing, exclude MWO from active antivirus/security scanning; while for some laptops changing the CPU power management to disable Turbo Boost also prevents TEMPORARY FPS drops/system stutters.

For the 4FPS issue that affects the entire combat drop (except for when looking towards the edge of the map or such), that is a memory leak issue either with VRAM and/or System memory/Commit Charge and pops up after playing the game for a specific amount of matches, which varies from one user to another dependent on system components.

BE, arigato for bringing this particular workaround forward, as it has helped a few people here, as well as allowed me to help a few people in another game.
