My current Stalker 3H build:

4ML, 2 LRM15 in the arms, 2 SRM6 in the side torso's.
Endo structure, 24 heatsinks, 260 standard engine (I had a spare one from my K2), CASE in side torso's.
2t ammo for the SRM's, 5t LRM ammo (one in head).

480 armor, 104 alpha, 1.11 heat efficiency. You can fire all 4 lasers for a LONG time.
The weapons are grouped like this:
group 1: RA ML's
group 2: LA ML's
group 3: SRM6's (on cycle fire)
group 4: LRM15's

I dislike playing with anything more than 4 weapon groups though, due to my mouse.

Tried some builds and found one, that works fine:
STK-5S (taked cos of AMS-2)

2 ERR PPC at hands
4 ML
4 sreak SRM2 + 1 tonn ammo
2 AMS + 1 tonn ammo
33 heat sinks (may be could drop 1 HS for 1 more ammo for sreaks)
XL 255 engine

close range - meet ECM - use lasers and PPCs, meet others - use streaks and lasers
find some nice LL guys - keep 600-800m distance and kill them =)

I'm actually having fun with a very illogical config.

5S
2 small laser
4 ER PPC
AMS
XL 225
30 Single heat sinks
432 armor

PPC's grouped into 2 different groups, one group for the arm mounted ones, one for torso mounted ones. third group for SLaz group fired, and then group 4 is all four PPC's group fired... for when you got the perfect shot and 0 heat built up.

Not doing too bad with this config, I try to stay at range and support my front line troops by chain firing the PPC's. Not too quickly either, or you will overheat quickly. The 2 smalls are nice for close fire damage without frying yourself.

For when you got the perfect shot lined up on that Catapult launching LRMS at your team mates you can fire all four PPC's and tear a limb right off or take the CT from full green to yellow on the internals. Very fun. It's also funny to see a Jenner run at you head on and then see him explode after 1 volley of ER PPC goodness.

It's very hard to manage heat though.... and you got to keep your eye on it. I usually run an Awesome (2 ER PPC 2 ER L-Laser, SRM6) so I know how to control it a bit.

I tried SRM's on her, but I don't like the spread. I love the Awesomes Twin Tubes so its more focused fire.

Yea, running a similar build except it's strictly 4xer ppc's, armor and heatsinks. I chain fire except when a scout is rushing then yes, I've one volleyed more than one scout.

well, my next build (once I've farmed the credits) will probably be either 4x LLas and 2x SRM6 or something like 3x PPCs and 3x SRM 6s.

Stalker 5M

5 srm6 with artemis, then immediately regret buying the thing as one of the missile hardpoints is rubbish. 4srm6 artemis aweome is better.

Well, it still overheats a lot, but not as much as the original version.

Ferox - STK-3F

2 Medium Lasers (Arm mounted)
2 Small Lasers (Arm mounted)
2 Large Lasers (Torso Mounted)
4 SRM 6 (Arm/Torso mounted)
26 Heatsinks

Do you guys think that double heatsinks could help on this?

3F (best twist)

300std
4x ASRM4 w/ 4t ammo (one group for volley, another for chain)
6x ML (torso on one group, arms on another)
AMS + 1/2t
max armour except legs (also pull the rear-side armour to the front-side a bit)
rest DHS

it really really owns. If you miss the raw punch of the SRM6's, drop the artemis for a straight swap. ASRM4 i've found has the same damage overall (less missed missiles) for less heat + ammo use.

Do they have through armor critical hits yet? Because that determines a LOT in Table Top. It is almost a different game without TACs.

I'm definitely far from a master mech-smith, and I haven't been piloting the Stalker as much as other people here, but...

3F
STD300
20 DHS

4xLL
2xSRM6 (2 tons ammo)

Skimping on leg armor and tiny bit of arms to squeeze it all in, otherwise full armor.

About as simple as it gets. Use the big lasers for consistent damage at most ranges, get in close and finish or at least slam in with the SRMs. Had some reasonable success so far, and it can definitely overheat, but it's not too shabby. Where to go with it from here is a bit of a puzzlement, though I think I may want to save up for an XL300, though that's...kinda out there at the moment. At that point I'm thinking of simply transitioning into maybe a 5M and a completely different build.

XL is a deathtrap on stalkers (unless you're doing some lrm build, and then really just get a catapult). only problem stalkers really have is all the variants are very same-y.

STK-3H

285STD
DHS
maxed armor

4x LL
4x SSRM2 (2t in legs)
rest is DHS

Does its job.

I tried this because I wanted to level up my 3H and earn money to equip it with Artemis at the same time. I have to say, it is amazing! I didn't have a 285, so I think I had to skimp on some armor and heatsinks and put in a Standard 300. Great to play, good consistent damage, no longer afraid of lights.

I've been using a 5S. It's my first traditional assault mech, so my builds/playstyle aren't very well honed.

2 PPC
4 Mlas
4 SRM 6 (4 tons)
2 AMS (1 ton)
STD 250
18 DHS

Hot as all hell, but manageable as long as you don't misfire a weapon group when you don't want to. 100 Alpha (40 direct, 60 missile, 80 burst for twisting). I usually use PPCs as sniping before brawls, and as crit seekers after SRMs strip armor. I don't really use the Mlas much given how overbearingly hot they are, but they fill the energy gap in the 90m range, make decent fallback after SRMs are down, and of course have their place in alpha strikes.

My first try at an assault mech, and the stalker:

LOL, while on holiday last week (and away from my gaming PC) I found this video online. I made the exact variant when I got home yesterday, and have had crazy success with it. The PPCs are good ranged power, and anything that gets close is dissolved by the SRMs.

18x Double heat sinks
526 armor

Also Artemis.

This one is a combination of my cataphract 3D with 4LL and my cataphract 2x with 2 PPC (both of which I adore). So, I made a stalker which has the main armament of both!

Stalker 3F
20 DHS
XL 300 (57.1 KPH)
Max Armor
4 LL
2 PPC

Lots of fun, not subtle. :P

Chain fire the LL's, and drop one or both PPC's when you need to reach out and touch someone.

So many boats... man I hate boats.

My 5M is set up with a pair of LRM 10s, a Mlas in each arm and a Mlas in the CT, and then an SRM6 pack in each side torso. Artemis FCS for all the missile launchers. Performance is heavily based on the team... if they're competent it works well since I can soften targets up with the LRM 10s and then move in with the SRMs and Mlasers.

Stalker 3h for the lrm20 tube support,

2x 20 LRM+Artemis
2x 10 LRM+Artemis
1440 LRM Rounds
2x ML
1x Tag Laser
1x BAP
300XL Engine
12 DHS
Armor Maxed even in the lags^^ and Endo Steel. Its a killer and with tag you can support other lrm boats.

5S

4x ML
4x SRM4 (4T)
2x MPL
2x AMS with 2000 rounds
22 SH and 300XL engine. Quite funny but not really special^^ it kills fast but that do all srm boats.

@4b4dd0n LRMs are confirmed imba. I like your build but no way I am putting endo on this thing as that would make every other build impossible. :D

I'm running 3x lrm15 (7 ton ammo), tag, 4 spl, ams. Std 255. I guess I could fit a 300xl, but it isn't a big deal.

Pretty much a lock for 400 damage if you don't get rushed by lights. I've gotten 800+ damage when people let me do my thing and fire away.

I pug, so I don't really like anything less than 4 SL for defense. Really sucks when a jenner and a hunchie rush you and teammates don't help. There is really nothing you can do about it. Lots of times I just run away 49kph and hope the Jenner doesn't find a soft spot lol.

Vs ECM is rough in certain positions. The thing about ECM is that if is almost useless in an open field. If the other team is patient and stays on the otherside of the caldera for example, then you are going to have problems getting any shots in. If a couple of them stay on your side of the ridge, then you can just beam them with TAG and happily fire away.

----------------------------------

As far as other builds go.... here's my nubtake.
Who knows, maybe PPCs or similar are good for high gunnery pilots, but I personally have found the PPC impossible to aim. ERPPC is just a PPC that can't be fired at the range I can actually hit with a PPC. :P Way easier to just LRM right click right click right clilck ez game.

AC whatever is much more forgiving due to higher fire rates, but that's just my experience. (not available on Stalker obv)

LL are quite nice, but ERLL are not really worth it in any capacity imo. I've run 3LL+1LPL+streak and found it to be quite nice, but not the beast the LRM build is. I've even run 4 LPL build, and I couldn't even come close to handling the heat...

5 MPL/2LL+3MPL+streak is pretty lulzy (running 300 std + as many heatsinks as possible). However imo, 5MPL just doesn't have the dps to match some kinda hybrid build with SRMs given the current heat situation. Max I've fit is like 23 or 24 DHS, but many builds can only fit 22.

SRM26 build, I have done a few of these and they are nice. Again I suck so good luck aiming this crap. Probably better off with other options. Definitely a build you have to use cover wisely or you will die in a hail of laser/bullet/missile on the way to your destination. Note, I haven't ever tried Artemis, so maybe that makes things better.

tl;dr

This is my 5S build - It was not an easy task to find the optimal weight/crit distribution, but is works fine now, and its fun:

std 255 (a.k.a. slow as hell)
DHS, endo
2x LRM20 in arms (4x ammo)
2x LL in arms
2x SSRM2 (2x ammo) (maybe too much, i rarely get to use the streaks but it helps in lategame)
1x AMS (1x ammo)
as many DHS as you can fit
almost max armor (-7 from both legs)

No more weight or crit spaces left.
firepower: 100
heat eff: 1.1

Stay behind, bit not too behind to support from long range. Do not get into a brawl, especially not alone.
An alpha strike from the 190-270 range is pretty devastating ;)
Would love to get a larger engine, but just cant fit it. LRM20s and LLs are a pretty heavy equipment.

Yes it has endo, and yes, its an LRM boat but it can do its part in close combat situations as well.
