Flame Build Help Please :)

So i recently got a flame and I've been trying to find an optimal build for it.
Right now, I have
1 ER PPC (right arm)
1 Large laser (left arm)
1UAC5 (left torso)
3 tons of UAC5 ammo
An XL330, max armor on ct, and both side torsos, and Double heatsinks/endo
What do you guys think?
Thanks!

Give you 30 damage alpha with both arms in the clear and medium ranges, the speed the keep medium range, and the ER PPC for long range and short range pop shots.

Or another suggestion run a Gauss rifle in the shoulder, 3 or 4 medium lasers as backup should run well with a 330, nice sniping platform, however is risky have a gauss sat right next to your head........
But really it looks like a very solid build. +1 thumbs up XD

I run a similiar build in my DGN-1C.
(I use a LBX-10 and 4ML vs the MPL)

The DHS are in the right torso rather than the engine to act as crit buffers if/when that is implemented but feel free to put them in the engine.

I like this build a lot personally, it runs fairly cool, though you have to watch the lasers on hot maps. I've also run with 4x flamers instead of the ML... currently if you pulse them and trade off with the gauss, you can heat up hot mechs on hot maps and use the gauss to kill them. It's lackluster on cool maps though, where mech dissipate too much heat for the flamers to work efficiently.

I've also messed around with subbing the AC5 for a GR with the rest of the build staying the same. You have to drop to an XL300 or less to pull it off, and ammo is much more of a concern - but it's gives a pretty big alpha strike for a dragon (46pts). Obviously it's a risk putting a GR in with an XL engine, but the side torsos on dragons rarely go before the CT and legs will anyways... So it's not a huge risk.

I have the 2 ppc in 1 arm just because I like my firing groups to be seperated on left and right for shooting around corners and what not. it obviously very hot but it's managable with the different weapon group. even on caustic you can chain fire ppc's and then drop back to ac2 +lrm while it's cooling down. Mls are just for lights that get too close.
I'm undecided on the effectiveness of the build but it's interesting to use. Those 4 arm laser points also ache for some boating so you could always look at that pcc or LL builds. Not really my thing but wahtever floats your dropship

FLAME 4x LL
It seems to be quite useful for me... not too hot, fast with good damage in medium to short range. Hunt some lights/mediums and take out sidetorsos of bigger mechs.

It's really good if you know what you're doing. It demands that you utilize the distance the LL offer, but my average damage per game sits around 350-400 with a 4 LL, 1 MG build (that's my personal touch). I run an XL 300, near max armor, AMS, endo steel/ferro fibrous/double heat sinks in it.
Dragons are tricky business due to how they're designed. But the Flame with 4 LL is a blast if you can keep yourself from getting picked apart (Dragons in general).

If I were to use XL350 I would squeeze in one more heat sink like this:

The 4LL version is also good but I tend to be better at single shots than keeping a long burst on target so the build above works better for me.

my favorite builds : STD300 engine, AC20(3 tonnes ammo) 4 x Med Las. In my humble opinion this is the best Dragon around
If you're going XL engine then you may as well go max(350). With this engine you can take endo & ferro armor and still get 4 more DHS in the engine slots. I've been running dual (ER)Large Laser, dual Med. Pulse Laser and an AC5 with ammo in the max engine Flame... a very fast DPS machine with the range to make a dangerous flanker

I'm with you on the fast dragun packing Gauss and 4 medium lasers.this set up let's you do it all, snipe, flank, assist weak spots, return to base to run off lights and even brawl effectively. In my opinion (and only a opinion) this build is the way to go for the flame.I'm sure other flame pilots have builds that work for them but the flame screams for speed.:-)

Needs MOAR ppcs!

And I agree with Sam, if you're going XL might as well go 350, there are plently of weapons you can mount on that thing with a 350 in it.

300xl with 4xLarLaser.
Those are the two builds I've found to be the most effective for me personally. Few weapon groups to manage, arms give great conversion for the lasers.

4xLLaser
1xSRM6 + 1T Ammo
XL325 engine with 10+3+1 DHS
Endosteel, FerroFibrous (358 armor)
Having a blast with this. Stay at range as much as you can with the LLasers, then when some obnoxious ***** comes in your face you have some SRM's to greet him with. A funny thing about the SRM6 is that it comes out in 4+2 missiles, so if you keep your aim steady the last two missiles can hit the same component as some of the first four. So it's really a little bit better than a usual SRM6. Does this have something to do with bay doors?

I love the build Sam uses.. I've used it to very good effect. Lately though I've gone with this build.

I wanted to min / max the hardpoints and was dubious at first but i've found it to be hellishly effective.. Speed has always been a key in my builds.. Would prefer to have an xl360 but it ends up gimping my output.
Runs best with full Elite
