I'm glad they said that they want to do this eventually.... but I still worry that the prices will be way out there if the paints/patterns/decals are permanent and available to all your mechs.
I just look at the price of the Hero mechs and I just shake my head.
Even the Death's Knell, which some people bought because it's "cheap"... at around $10 for a subpar variant with a fancy unchangeable paint scheme, are you kidding??
That is robbery, F2P or no.
Charge me 25 cents for a basic color that I can use on EVERY mech I own, forever and always, and sure.
50 cents for a 'premium' color, if you really must go that route.
Max of $1 for a pattern, and 50 cents for a decal or something. All permanent and interchangeable with any mech.
You will make so much in volume your heads will spin, IGP.
But I'm sorry... I'm not spending the price of a good dinner out just to look at some virtual mech that I don't even own and can't play with after your shut down your servers.
I sure as hell am not going to pay the price of a good lunch just to paint one of those mechs.
*ahem* That's my little rant of the evening, and to help bump this.
P.S.- I still think that all the 'free' MC that founders have is skewing the results of what people are buying what.
I'm not a founder myself, but I've seen and read about many of them that have spend thousands upon thousands of their bonus MC on nothing but vastly overpriced mechs and *gasp* even more on cockpit decorations and paints.
I actually just had a match with a guy who had the premium phracken pattern, which he repainted with premium colors. That lone probably cost him $20 worth of MC, if not more (depending on how often he changed the paint on that mech, lol).
But then I was able to spectate him, and he had the most expensive cockpit decorations available.
He probably could have bought a few months of premium time for the crap he put in that mech.
Not my cup of tea, but to each their own....
