Think I have a relatively solid build together for an AS7-D-DC command mech. Idea is to provide fire support to kill the enemy heavies from long range, while providing ECM cover to your heavies / mediums in front of you, and tagging targets to die for your LRM boats.

AS7-D-DC

Equipment -
STD 300 Engine
Endo Steel
13 Double Heatsinks
Artemis FCS
ECM

Weapons -
ER-PPC
TAG Laser
Gauss Rifle
LRM 15
LRM 20

Ammo -
3 tons Gauss ammo in shoulders / head
4 tons LRM ammo in legs

Gotta drop about 25 points of armor off of the legs / arms, but its still tough.

Made some modifications, top post reflects this now.

Tested it for a couple dozen games in 8 mans and 4 mans... extremely effective. Rarely does less than 400 damage, and thats when the entire game is a brawl. If I get a chance to open up at long range over open ground, 750+ damage is pretty average.

My DC is similar. I've been debating trying to go to double AC5, although I'm still testing out the AC10 and it is killing more than when I used to use double AC5. I also like the common range of the AC10 with the large lasers.

Mine:
2xLarge Laser
3xsrm6
1xAC10 (30 rounds)
ECM
DHS
Standard Engine

To the OP, it seems like a good support/ranged build. Not sure what you do when the enemy gets close and I'm not sure about the heat mgmt.

I have a very similar build which I'm enjoying right now:

300 std. Engine (previsously had an XL but swapped it out)
2x Large Laser
3x SRM6
Gauss
ECM
Endo Steel
Double Heat Sinks
full armor (just about)

I can snipe from a distance, dual lasers alternating with Gauss for a little bit closer. Then when I'm up close and personal I just open up with 3x SRM6 to the face (which is often unexpected and tends to make people backpedal a bit).

I'm trying to figure out what you guys are putting your weight into?

Mine:
2xLL
3xSRM6
2xAC5
Std 350
ECM (Obviously)

How the heck are you pulling that off?

Endo, no extra Heatsinks and only 2 tons of ammo each for SRM and AC probably.
i'd rather go with the stock engine, get the amount of Heatsinks to like 15 and upgrade the AC to UAC.

How are you faring against Stalkers and how many DHS can you fit in the mech?? Also can you squeeze in an Artemis?

I was running 3 LRM 15s pre ECM and found that didn't work very well post ECM since I mostly play with 1 or 2 friends or just lone wolf it. Post ECM I was running Large Laser, Tag + 3 LRM 15s for a bit but moved to something similar to your build Large Laser, TAG, 2 LRM 15s, Gaus Rifle, SRM4. How are you finding the heat for the ER PPC? I found that ER Large laser ran too hot especially when you wanted to use it between LRM volleys.

Artemis was nerfed so you need line of sight in the most recent patch so might not be worth it for LRMs anymore.

I tried dual Ultra AC5 and I found they jammed to much for my liking and you rather have a slow firing Gaus or AC 20 so you could twist between volleys. Why the AC10 and not a Gaus Rifle? I have a preference for Streak SRM 2's because I'm kinda bad at shooting lag shield lights and with ecm in counter mode can shoot streaks at a light.

My current build is
2 large laser
gaus rifle 4 tons ammo
3 streak srm 2s 3 tons ammo
18 double heat sinks
300 engine
ECM

I like having decent range and streaks are for killing lights.

3 x SRM 6 ( 4t ammo )
2 x ML
1 x AC20 ( 5t ammo )
ECM
STD 300
Max armor
AMS ( 2t ammo )
17 DBL heatsinks
1.28 heat efficiency

You want to brawl? This setup does 75dmg per alpha strike all with 270m optimum range.

Just had one of my most fun games ever (6 kills, almost totally stripped of armor) with this build:

2x LLaser
1x Gauss (3t ammo)
1xLRM15 + Artemis (2t ammo)
2xSSRM 2 (1t ammo)
ECM
12 DBL Heatsinks
608 Armor
1.1 Heat Efficiency

Obviously it isn't a close range OMG alpha machine, but it is a threat at any range, mostly keeps harassing lights at bay unless it's a pack of them, and can support team mates all over the place. Upgrading it with Endo would give me 5 free tons and still leave a few free slots, letting me upgrade the LRMs to a 20 tube and add some ammo or AMS. Sadly, I run other D-DC builds that don't work well with Endo, guess I'll have to buy another one at some point in the future since I really like this build.

At the moment i'm running a D-DC w/

a 300 engine, ECM, 15 total DHS, 2 LL. 3 SRM4 1 AC/20, and 592 Armor... i'm still Iffy on the AC/20.. i love the close up hit.. but the ROF is a bit lame. i've avoided Artemis becuase.. well i suck and for some reason can not enter counter mode.. and ECM negantes Artemis...
over all? im still iffy on it, despite 3/8 skills.. i've tried 2 LBX/10.. 2 UAC/5.. but i've yet to find the build that suits me.. likely because despite a month/month and a 1/2 im still learning.. i prefer lights or heavies..

sounds odd i know.. but mediums and assaults.. im still not good at driveing lol.. :P

I've been running with this:

2x Medium Lasers
1xAC/20 (w/3tons ammo)
3xSRM6 (Artemis w/3tons ammo)
AMS w/1ton ammo (because people are using tag)
Standard 300 engine
15xDouble Heat Sinks

608/614 armor

and yes everything is slaved for alpha, at 200m it dishes out a world of hurt. Thought of going to PPC's or large lasers, but the heat on this can get a bit much.
