Base Capture Bonus Removed

I have been in multiple games where people rush the base to capture resulting in a 30k victory, we could've earned more for losing.

It seems a strikingly large amount of players have not seen the patch notes and do not know that a base capture is now worthless.

At least put a small notice on the launcher or something.

To be perfectly honest I don't particularly like the removal of the base capture reward. In fact it broke Capture the flag...why capture the flag when you don't get rewarded for it. Its pretty much Team Deathmatch now :/ I think its about the only bad thing we got out of this new patch. Shoulda just taken Cap Flag out and just call it what it is now...Team Deathmatch. Though I have actually lost a match to a flag cap lol

I always hated the cap race, so i'm perfectly OK with this change.

Base capture is still a viable win option. The new economy just encourages actually using your mech for what it was built. Those that still choose to cap at beggining of the round without engaging the enemy will just be the poorer for it.

Hard to say what the point of capture is now.

The only valid use I think would be is to have 6 hard hitting mechs and 2 lights. Start out with all of them getting into a brawl, but eventually send the 2 lights out to go capture if things aren't going your way so you can walk away with the salvage.

you still have capture the flag in Conquest mode. As for the Base cap reward being removed from the other mode and not removing base cap altogether... thats because they still want us to have a second way to win a game if say... your team is winning but the enemy team has that one pesky light left that ran off, shut down and now you cant find him. Well... then if you cant find him and he wont come out and play, you then just go cap the base to get the game to end.

That's how capture should have always work.

They should at least give some bonus for capping. That way, the game isn't essentially TDM with flags(it was pretty much that before, anyway). Do it in such a manner that it rewards creative tactics, though. So instead of it turning into a base rush, instead it is a hold them in one place while you sneak a couple of small fast mechs to cap the flag. To me, that should be encouraged. Just a thought.

I'm enjoying the removal of it a lot now, we can make more money by killing a couple of the enemy team and losing if they backcap than the cowards who did the capping.

For what it's worth, there is still an XP bonus for cap win and cap assist.

Maybe what PGI should have done is cut the cap reward in half for every friendly mech that enters the zone. So 2500 for one mech, 1250 for two, 625 for three, 313 (rounded up!) for four, 156 for five, 78 for six, 39 for seven and 20 for eight. While I haven't tried an 8 group game since this patch, it would make Raven 3L team rushes useless; or at least a composition most teams wouldn't want to field. And I'm alright with that.

You know, I should also join the cap griefers because capturing the other teams base should be the main objective of Assault mode. We should ignore all of the QQers who wants Assault mode to be TDM when it isn't. Perhaps PGI will restore the reward for base captures in the next couple of weeks since achieving an objective should be rewarded.

In the mean time, it will be a source of endless frustration since a base cap win often rewards less than a loss. I do hope they return the cap bonus.

Hell, I hope they actually implement the changes listed in the patch notes like rewards scaling based on participation. As it is, everyone gets the "lol you suck" tier base reward of 25k.

Perhaps then, PGI will set the base cap to actually mean something other than ending the match early.

But the last few matches I've been in have been PUGstomping for cash with 8-0 or 8-1 results. If this tactic stops it, all the better.

While I agree with some of you that the base cap race wasn't fun... that was just the game mode. Right now they broke conquest mode and made it into a team death match.

They need to bring back base caps counting and bring in a new game mode called death match.
