I`m curious to know what other people think about "legging" when they play. i think it is unfair and a cheap way to earn c-bills. just to let you guys know by legging i mean take out both legs of a mech. i always try to take out one leg so i can have an easier target

I think it's a valid tactic and a great way to get a big salvage bonus. Especially since a lot of players strip off leg armor to put in more guns/ammo/heatsinks.

I tihnk if you have a XL engine and i have more firepower and armor than you and we have no other mechs to interfear with our duel that im going to try and leg you for the salvage bonus.

Hell reagrdless of the situation if im in my dual AC20 mech im going to leg every single XL equipped mech i can find.

Legging's sometimes a good substitute for killing if you're in a hurry. It certainly kills the lag-shield light mechs enjoy.I don't drop with anyone who has any qualms about cockpitting or legging an enemy mech.

I legged a "STALKER" today, and the little crybaby "DISCO'd" before I killed her, actually I was picking her missile boat apart, piece by piece...
.
I could faintly hear the sound of a little girl breaking her keyboard as she rage quit... Awww what's a matter, your missile boat "Stalker' no good up close...??

I cant see any problem with legging.. its the least cheesey tactic to deal with the lag light situation thats for sure

Legging is a valid tactic, to slow mechs down which are in a hurry,
Also it keeps players from stripping their legs of too much armor :-)

And it doesn't occur to much, so it is probably a pretty balanced tactic

Best done as an overall team tactic. If you shoot their legs and your team shoots their torso then the enemy will live longer than he should and deal more damage before dying.

And of course, little boys would do no such thing.

*sigh*

To me its just like playing chess: every single move that the rules allow is fine, no matter what my opponents think about it.

Calling things "unfair" or "dishonorable" or anything like that is just trying to get the opponent to play less effective aka more stupid.
If the rules allow a tactic thats unfairly strong or unbalanced, then it's PGI's job to change the rules, but until they do, I'll be happy to use it to my advantage.

And legging ? seriously, armor your legs more...

I tend to have the same leg armor as arm armor, people seem to try to leg my mech and fail miserably due to this.

I try to keep my leg armor about at the same level as my side torso armor (both front and back). Makes legging me a losing proposition.

Usually a waste of time, sometimes if I'm in a light/cicada and I'm hunting a light or if their leg already has armour stripped I'll go for it but I'm usually about the direct brutality of coring someone.

Legging a mech in this game is not very easy.
