Hello guys,
after a lot of silent reading on the rampages about 3PV, HSR and almost every single weapon balancing ingame I wanted to drop of a "Thank you for MWO", deep down from my heart.
I was a Founder for this game right from the beginning, about 2 months before it went Closed Beta. It happens for a fact that I'm a Software Engineer as well, so I understand a little bit of stuff you're doing. Roadmaps, milestones, customer relation and communication etc. are nothing new for me.
I really don't know how to express this in an appropriate way (since I'm not a native english speaker), but the point is:
I've seen you rebalancing about every single weapon multiple times. I've seen you restarting the whole heat issues. I've seen the things you've done against boating, and to improve the gameplay for people with above-average pings. I'm very well aware of the times when an AC took about 0.5secs after triggering it to fire, rendering it impossible to hit something unless it was 2m in front of you. I remember the Jumpsniping Highlanders. I remember light mechs beeing indestructable for lagshield-reasons. I remember running around the same 3 maps in the same 6 mechs over and over again. I remember a complete OP ECM-System, rendering almost every other mech totally useless.
But obviously, many people don't remember these times. They complain about any single decision you make in every patch and present you their numbers they evaluated in max. 10 test matches (educated guess on this). They complain about ill balance and MWO beeing "not a competitive game due to random events" like UAC/5-Jamming.
In my view, it is like this: You managed to at a lot of content to this game, helping people who got bored with its meager content in the last year. You improved a lot of technical issues with a team of about 40 people (which isn't that much if you work on a proper SW-developement process). And still, people complain about paying for colours or hero mechs or a nerf in cbills, getting them to play 90 matches for a new mech instead of 80.
Random events are and where always a part of Battletech. You could be Alexander Kerensky himself, if someone shot you with his gauss rifle in the head in the first round, you were dead. Talking about competive. Maybe the guys calling you names for this should go back to StarCraft 2 (an excellent game nevertheless).
All I wanted to say is: Keep it up. Hold up its "Battletech"-Style without concentrating on either the hardcore-sim-gamers or the casual gamers. Just make it a sim-like World of Tanks in the Battletech-Universe with all our beloved mechs and the possibility to play selfmade community events.
Do some advertising, help new players get into it, improve the possibilitys of building sim cockpits and special events (4th Succession War community event anyone?) for the pros, but please: Never ever stop this game because someone rampages about vanities like "uhhh with 3PV you can see me over the ridge THE WHOLE GAME IS BROKEN AND YOU LIED TO ME! I SPENT 80 BUCKS AND YOU ARE MY PERSONAL SLAVES NOW!" (no pun intended).
So, to finish this, just wanted to cheer you up a little and ensure you that you have at least one guy who loves the game as it is and is really excited about all the new things to come.

Just Wanted To Drop Off A "thank You Guys!"

Inb4:
"lol ur on PGI's payroll arn't u"
"Go away, Fanboi, stop blowing the devs. obviously this game is the worst game in the history of anything ever."
It's good to see a voice of reason around here, though. I welcome the change and am very much in agreement with you good sir.

I'm more upset with how PGI consistently lies to the community and offhandedly insults its core playerbase than their overall incompetency.
The things you're thanking PGI for are expected of them. After throwing so much money at them, they do not deserve nor require thanks. If anything they should thank the founders and golds specifically who still play their broken and dying game.
At risk of getting into another 3PV debate I'll just say this: It could've been handled far better than what took place. Aside from that, 3PV is easy to abuse from a competitive sense.
I know I won't be giving PGI anymore of my money. After losing my job, I sincerely hate myself for spending as much money I did on this travesty of a game. I wouldn't have to ask friends for rides or tell my folks how awful and irresponsible I am.
At least no one IRL knows I play this game or that I spent as much money on it as I did.

Hi there typical "i'm going to be overly dramatic" MWO forumite.
Yes, there was poor communication in handling the 3PV issue but to call this game a 'travesty' is so over-the-top that it's just borderline farcical.
Sure, with 3PV you can peek over things and around corners. Neat. Nifty. Aside from that IT IS USELESS. You have no HUD, no situational awareness, no ability to target or attack effectively, your arms are locked to your torso, no map, and it takes over a full second to swap between 1PV and 3PV- and that's not even mentioning the "HELLO GUYS I AM HIDING BEHIND THIS THING HERE PLEASE COME SHOOT ME" glowing UAV drone over your head.
You guys blow it WAY out of proportion.

I like the Post OP. I was looking to post something similar but instead I will just respond to you. There has been SO many issues since closed beta and PGI has dealt with them well. Third person does not make my blood boil like others here and I could honestly care less. They do not always do what raging people on the forums want, but they do what they think is best. I support their right to make a profit and make a game they have a dream to make. They still listen to reasonable feedback and I still enjoy playing this game. I look forward to the future, but dont mind me as I avoid the forum hate (which is the number one reason I stopped reading it regularly.)
