Does anyone know the reasoning behind dropping all rearm and repair costs? Was curious, but can't seem to find any reasoning behind it.

It was punishing to new players, they were getting lower rewards than the trial mechs and were likely leaving due to the grind fest.

They didn't really add anything to the game, and made some mechs P2W-lite by requiring premium to run them every match (assuming roughly 50% win rate).

I believe the idea was to even things out so that no matter what you are driving, you will be rewarded based on performance.

Takes a little away from the risk and reward side of things. I rekon it should be activated once you reach your 25 match milestone. Otherwise we see endless missile boats and assaults.

No, thanks.
And no, you don't see endless missileboats and assaults. You see endless centurions, because 'it looks cool,' and endless lagshielded lights. Seeing proper, bought assaults is pretty rare in this game, thanks to how underpowered they are.

It also melts a hole through to the earth's core after you've shot your guns once.

Lagshield has been minimised. And you see endless stalkers, and they are BOTH...Though that may be more that they are; 1 trial 'mechs, 2 OP, and 3, New 'mechs, and 4 FREE!!! There would be a lot fewer if they had to pay repair and rearm bills.

And before you think I'm being biased. I mostly piloted an Atlas, with endo-steel, and in a good match, would make a profit of about 20 000 cbills after rearm and repair.

Also, that brings another point forward. Assaults shouldn't be allowed to trial 'mechs, the amount of noob assault pilots is painful

RnR is only slowing down the balancing issues of the game. with it out of the way, players will hopefully test all kinds of weapons, engines, upgrades etc.
