Seen someone with a 6 LL Stalker, not sure what the overheats are like but with an XL and ES you should have enough crits to fill up on SHS...

I'm looking at Cataphract 3d sniper builds. ER PPC + gaus rifle or two with jump jets for pop up attacks sounds fun haven't actually tried it yet because of really high cbill cost but I'll let you know when I do.
I actually haven't tried the 3 large laser + srm4s but I watched some with the death cam and they are pretty mean.
With the ppc speed improvement the 4 PPC Atlas RS is pretty fun. You can snipe pretty effectively with the speed increase. I ended up going 2 PPC 2 large laser because I don't like having nothing to shoot lil peck lights that get in the 90m ppc deadzone.
4 Large laser atlas build I mentioned is also fun but its not exactly a sniper.
Actually 4 large laser RS Atlas with a 350 standard engine is very efficient. You can fit 14 double heat sinks in the engine and an additional 10 double heat sinks with 4 in each left and right torso and 1 each in the arms for a total of 24 double heatsinks. Rounding it out is AMS and 1 ton of ammo striping a little armor off the legs puts you at 100 tons. Added bonus is you move and twist faster. Big issue is twisting to protect your center torso gets your arms shot off and then your a stump with no weapons in your torso.
I'm not sure if I like the faster 4 large laser 350 engine Atlas RS or the slower 4 large laser + gaus Atlas RS. You lose quite a few heatsinks + mobility to put in that Gaus rifle but its something to shoot while your cooling off between alphas and a torso mounted weapon if your arms get shot off.

Ok thnx for the feedback everyone! I think i've decided to go full sniper, so if i were to choose between an Awesome and an Atlas, and the configuration will provide me long range support but also close range fighting and will constantly bring in a positive cash flow from fights (I.E not having to re-supply a lot of ammunition)?
I prefer Awesome or Atlas. If someone can point me in the right direction that would be great.

Ressuply? You are aware that there are no more Repair&Rearm costs right??
So far the best sniper Ive tried was the twin Gauss Cat, it really kicks the llamas *** as they say....but you have to know your positioning and you have to know when to run away because you are fragile...still nothing quite brings a smile to my face like the thousands of sparks from a double-gauss impact on a mech torso...
I have tried the 4LL RS Atlas and I have to say that I dislike it...its not an efficient build by any means because you wont be able to fit the optimal ammount of DHS on your mech and will have both weight and criticals to spare. A 4LL RS with a Gaus rifle now that would be another matter and well worth exploring...

Hi there, the sniper build I've been using is the Stalker 3f. XL300, Endo, DHS, 6 PPCs @.78 heat efficiency and full armour. You can fire two Alphas then fire 2 of the PPCs quite rapidly after that if you need to deal with someone close. The mech runs at 57kph before speed tweak so not too bad...
Just those pesky ravens to worry about, lucky you can turn them to slag quite fast

Why not something with mobility like the Surgical cat?
I find it to be a really good all round mech actually.
Machineguns are useless you say?
Well I am not stopping you from replacing them with heatsinks.

This. If you want a good laser boat that deals insane damage up to 500m.
I've had several good games (over 1000 damage) with this and heat is very manageble. If you want to snipe I would suggest a 2x Gauss build...

Nothing I've used is as deadly as a dual gauss rifle mech for sniping.
It's fast, lacks the visual light show of lasers and ppcs, and front loads
the damage. Point, click, 30 points of damage to one location. Two or
three salvos in the same spot will bring down anything short of an
assault mech.
Lasers aren't very good because it applies damage over time,
giving your target plenty of time to walk behind cover as well
keeping you exposed while you try to keep the beam on target.
Great for brawling or close to medium support, not so much
for sniping.
PPCs are the weapon I want to love, but dual PPCs seem
to lack the punch that 20 points of damage should be doing.
Like the laser, PPCs also light up the sky letting everyone know
where you are.
Gauss cat: 2 gauss, 2 med lasers, xl255, have fun.
Once you get bored of it, drop a gauss rifle for a 2 large,
2 med laser, one gauss, xl300 cat that pushes 81kph for
a more rounded fighter.
If you want to feel like you're piloting
an X-wing, 4 large lasers is fun as well.
If you really want to go with sniping with energy weapons
though, I'd give a PPC (er or regular) build a whirl.
