Please keep in mind, the max heights you used to get with jump jets was never intended to be that high. The heights you're getting now are correct. The problem is how long it takes for you to get there. Sorry to say, but until January, you're going to be dragging your toes for about 60m+ before gaining major upward thrust.


So this patch was P1 for JJ and next patch is P2. Keep the good work coming!

Because if he answers Yes then he has an acceptable excuse for saying everything is working fine "deal with it" about 2-3 posts under where the lead programmer says things aren't working right.

Otherwise we know he's just a troll and to show him the disdain he deserves.

I'm still confused, and not because I'm autistic, though I am. I gather he was attempting to be insulting, but it didn't even make sense. It's like calling people g.a.y.as an insult, which also doesn't make sense.

edit: I'm insulted that g.a.y. is considered an insult by the censor.

The weight is fine. PGI ****** the trajectory and really needs to bring it back to where it was. As someone said in another thread, they are hover jets, not jump.

At least make me able to get onto the Cathedral in River City on my Catapult with 4 JJ. I actually wasn't able to get onto the ramp around the Cathedral in G5-G6. So now I have removed them totally from the build, because I can't jump over any building that is as tall as my Catapult, and that's almost every building in River City. I have lost like 70% of my positions from where to shoot people and actually make surprise LRM hits to take the edge from my teammates. Also now shooting targets in the areas where there are buildings is imposible, because I can't get high enough - LRM's just don't fly that high from the ground to fly over the buildings, so they just hit the first more than 5-6 stories high.

Me being an LRM boat, very much relied on that JJ capability to actually get to good LRM spots and be able to put some distance between me and enemy mechs when they chased me. Not to mention JJ provided actual tactical advantage of being able to scale where other mechs could not and make "surprise butsex" kind of attacks.

Maybe the problem with the JJ before last patch was the capability of flying the mech', not jump in it. Maybe that mechanic has to be changed to we actually make a "jump" - a rapid ascension to the required height and some fuel left to smooth the landing. So you can't actually fly forward and easily shoot your targets while gliding. Now you have to start your JJ like 200m before the obstacle to get on top of it and missing by 10-15 meters results in fail if that obstacle height is at the limit of your JJ capability.

At the moment I'm trying to use 5 JJ's ( maximum ) on my Jenner and i barely lift.

I suggest the vertical thrust of a single JJ to be buffed by 20-30% and fuel capacity by 10% or something.

It seems strange, when I'm using 5 JJ's and cant make a decent jump, even when I'm using all my fuel.

I too have been hurt by the recent change in the Jump Jets, I feel a little betrayed by the game with their performance. I use a Raven with 4 jump jets, and can't make a reliable getaway over a building or even some of the smaller hills. Take-off time is depressing and the max jump after equipping 4 of the maximum of 5 makes me wonder why I spent the tonnage on them in the first place.

I thought that the light mechs, even with one Jump Jet, should at least get to the top of a 3 story building. I hope the rumor about a fix in January comes true, because the Jump Jets have been made a waste of valuable slots on a mech.

I tried out 4/4 jets on my Catapult last night(Hate having to dig this still defunct Mech up) and they are noticeably less helpful now. I don't seem to gain as much height as before or as quickly. 4 tons spent on these and they actually do less than before, which is barely anything at all. 4 tons gone isn't worth a rabbit hop's worth of height. I have to spend the entire bar just to struggle to reach climbs that used to be easy. Making us have to pay full weight for full fuel gage is good, but nerfing them at the same time... why did you do that?

Time to throw them away until next patch. But I mostly cheese a 3L, 4P, 4SP, or D DC now anyway, none of which even use jets. You can thank the BS PoS OP ECM for that.

20 tons of JJs might be able to jump an atlas the way they are currently working.

JJ's are fine, they just need a slight buff to match the TT. In the table top JJ's gave 30m of jump height and give 30m additional height per JJ. Currently 1 JJ gives no height, you just float for 6 seconds, with 4 JJ's on a catapult, you only acheive 41m height.

FIX TO 30m PER JJ

i don't like how the JJ work either but don't insult PGI just because things don't work perfectly in the BETA. traditionally BETA is a part of the testing and refinement process.

i can't wait until they fix JJ, but even with this problem this is still a great game and i think the money i invested to help them start was very well spent. and when you see jenner and ravens regularly sniping from the tops of satelite towers and skyscrapers, something is wrong. JJ needed a bit of work, so they changed things. when they changed things it did not work out very well but that is to be expected in a BETA.

First, your in a forum thread that is trying to tell PGI they messed up, which is an insult thread for the most part. Second, how do you mess up something so simple to implement in BETA, when they missed it by a mile. Also FYI, the beta bullcrap can stop being thrown around, the game is pretty much live. Open beta is pretty much early game access, your spending money and you keep what you buy. Its live, not BETA.

if everything is so simple and easy and PGI is screwing everything up why not go make your own game that you want and play it instead.

and this is still beta, galaxy map, persistent campaign, many of the weapons and components, etc. are not out. this is like a third of what the game is going to be. so no i do not accept your justification for being a douche.
