So, has anyone else read this story?

Quote

3) "The Voluntary State" by Christopher Rowe (FictionWise) Soma-With-The-Paintbox-In-Printer's-Alley and Jenny-With-Grease-Beneath-Her-Fingernails are citizens of the Voluntary State of Tennessee, their lives enhanced by biotech and nanotech under the apparently benevolent dictatorship of the Governor. They get caught up in a fiendish Kentuckian plan to overthrow the regime. Fast-paced and beautifully described, and in fact the only one on this list that I personally nominated, but on re-reading I felt it had some hidden shallows. Shortlisted for the Nebula. Included in the Dozois and the Haber/Strahan Best of the Year anthologies.

I can sense the irony just from the story synopsis :) Now I need to find and read the story, sounds interesting.

I can't vouch for Fictionwise, but the link in the quoted text above appears to be a place that sells e-books.

I read the story originally in this:

http://www.amazon.co...eywords=rewired

Which is just utterly full of awesome short stories.

Including the much lauded "When SysAdmins Ruled The World" by Cory Doctorow.
