I loaded the 310.70 WHQL driver last night. My FPS dropped by 50% after installing it. My GTX 580 gets 56 to 35 FPS using 306.97 WHQL. Using 310.70 WHQL my FPS dropped to 25 to 19 FPS. I ended up rolling back to 306.97, and saw the return of 56 to 35 FPS.

I'm not sure if it will do any good, but I opened a support ticket with MWO to let them know of the issue.

Those drivers now support Ambient Occlusion for MWO. Could be part of your FPS issues, Gargoyle.

According to MWO support they "think" that the new patch is supposed to improve the performance of the game under the new Nvidia 310.70 driver. I'll have to test the patch under 306.97, and then again under 310.70 to confirm it.

I saw the info on the Ambient Occlusion in the new driver. It is possible that had an impact, but I didn't change any settings in MWO to turn it on.

Ambient Occlusion support was added 7-8 (? more) drivers ago, 306.xx, or even earlier.

nVidia simply doesnt update their driver information to include ONLY what is new, they leave all updates from previous drivers as well. That being said, I have had good results with the new drivers, in combination with the new patch.
