Ive been enjoying them more than I used to. With ECM it is very hard to call targets to concentrate fire in a comm group unless you are all shoulder to shoulder looking the same direction. "Shoot the atlas" hard to follow when there are 2 atlases or you cant see it at all.

On a related note, I love my 3 PPC awesome. I never overheat (unless I want to) The new projectile speed makes it even easier to hit enemies (and I wanst too shabby before either)

Anyone else start playing more pug groups since ECM?

I PUG exclusively, and I've played more since ECM was implemented, so, by default, yes.

My lack of Mic forces me to pug, and though I'm not a big fan of ECM (on lights) I don't think it's too broken, it just needs more counters

All I play. Game feels the best ever at this point to me. I think the latest changes are very conducive to pug games. I also think more and new mechs add some nice variety. I see really diverse mech groups now.

I would love playing in PuGs a lot more if it wasn't for all the sync drop cheaters I have encountered recently.

I prefer 4-man drops at this point since can still play with friends and do some coordination but it also weight matches so you don't have worry as much about the Raven/Atlas ECM cheese combos you run into constantly in 8-mans.

ECM didn't help pugs, it greatly hurt them.(Unless you're the one using it)

What helped pugs was this patch's economy changes. Now I just hope they finally get around to balance changing this blasted device next patch. It's extremely OP currently and its mere presence renders other things useless.

Just let TAG lock onto ECM covered mecs for the person carrying TAG, if they are inside the bubble.
Would be fine in my mind with how it's harder to acquire and keep locks now (they did change the difficulty) and how TAG needs to stay locked onto said targeted mech.

Conquest mode has made pugs even dumber than before.

As if they needed 1 more reason to scatter to the 4 winds when the match starts.

Usually translates into whole team all over the map getting attacked in an enemy ECM bubble. No one says anything. Suddenly your team is down 8 vs 2 and you still have no idea where the enemy is or what they are driving. Can't say either ECM or Conquest have made pugs any less painful.

My internet hates teamspeak so I pug exclusively as well, ECM makes LRM support very interesting and its actually enjoyable now that I don't have to rage at bad scouts for allowing me to fire 75k in missiles into the dirt :P

you have to hold your TAG on, right? you cant just shoot it and have it work? Like its an always on laser?

Thatd be weird. The only weapon in the game thats always on would make it hard to use lol

yeah you have to hold tag on(unless you wedge the key down with a weight or something) I do wish tag was a peice of gear that didn't take up an energy slot or that you could toggle it. I have a tag laser on my scout comando(also have an ER large laser and a beagle probe) and no matter howmany time i tell my team to fire LRMs at (insert target designation here usually anything big and slow) nobody ever seems to pay any attention...as such SGT.WEEMAN sits all alone in my hanger....

I'm a 100% Jenner Pugger (460+ games). ECM has certainly added a new challenge to the game and by adding the Jump Jet correction I think that it has helped correct the Jenner's overpowered status. This is a positive move as a Jenner player has to seriously examine their mech load outs and playing style preference.

Now when I see a Commando or Raven I need to evaluate the situation a little bit more because they no longer may be an "easy kill".

I consider myself a decent player and running a Jenner is more difficult these days but I roll with the punches and just have to adapt to the changing game environment.

All up though is my opinion is PGI are slowly turning this game into something better than the past and I look forward to 2013.

Have a Merry Xmas everyone and a Happy New Year.

How about maybe having the PPC EMP effect canceling out ECM for a bit?

Yep. I've got no beef with the four person drops. It's just the way it is at the moment. But it seems to me (please note the "seems to me") that I've had more than a few sync drops for opposition.

I could be wrong. I've PuGged in a few matches where everything just seems to line up and the team just seems to work together and we just stomp the other team. Maybe that's what I was seeing... I hope so.

Anyway, tonight I dropped with a (at least) four-person premade (I asked, but didn't get a definitive answer) and fought against something similar. And my team used the txt coms so that we could work together. Pretty fun, but I was cashiered very early by some very well executed play by the opposition. No worries! I know very well when I'm outclassed. And these tigers were good!

On the other hand... I also dropped tonight with a group of 8 individuals and was completely smashed in the first few minutes by very well coordinated 8 person tactics. Does kinda make you wonder, yeah?

Cheers!

PUGing is WWAAYY too much fun to want to give it up. It's an interesting study, I've been taking notes on the different kinds of players and I'm trying to find the best ways to adapt and accommodate (since getting mad only ruins the game :P ).

Of course I get really excited when a group of lone-wolves beats an entire team of founders. **Not that I have anything against founders, but when there are 8 founders all on the same team there's bound to be at least one premade in there!** Only happened once today though, I jumped out of my seat and started dancing when we won :P

OP you are an awesome pilot huh? You are brave sir. Oh and I see you pilot the Awesome battlemech. (see what I did there? :P ) Keep those PPCs away from me! I don't like the sound it makes when it slams into my backside :)
