Hold A Real Christmas Sale (Or Why I Bought Planetside Cash)

Why? Because I, like many others, are waiting for PGI to consider throwing a worthwhile sale.
20% more MC on some packages is a fine middle of the year deal. Don't get me wrong. But as your Black Friday / Christmas bonus? That's horrible for a F2P game. This is the time of year where people who can't normally buy these things pay tons to stock up on them that simply can't, or won't, the majority of the year.
Sure, you might milk $10 or $20 out of me this year so I can buy some more hangars and paint jobs, so I definitely am willing to pay. But I just dropped several times that stocking up on Sony Cash, which I will likely spending spree and save only some of it. It's hard NOT to spend credit when you have it.
My point? Had PGI run a good sale this year, I'd likely bought far less Station Cash and far more MC. Maybe not 300% good, but even double MC would draw me in. Or if you don't want to do that, offering all MC 'mechs half off or something would work as well! If you increase the value of what I get for my MC with kick *** sales, then I will be willing to pay more year long.
Long story short? Either run a GOOD MC sale, or offer GREAT 'mech sales combined with a decent MC sale. If you did something like this, again, I would have sent a lot more money towards PGI. To be honest I feel guilty buying Station Cash over MC given how active in MWO I am, but this is just terrible.
PS: The low priced cockpit items were a GREAT start by the way PGI. I hope you make up enough money with the quantity that the smaller sums pay off.

The store needs alot more doodads to buy and the cheapo bling was a great start. Mech bays are in a good spot, but I'd rather buy patterns than pay for the paint as well.
So yes to more MC, mech, flair sales.
And have more events! Double XP is one I see from other games alot. Still would work with the current system if people are racking up the mechs. The giveaways for the Coconut Monkey and Dawn were cool too. Get your marketing squad going and get dem likes and tweets and all sorts of good word of mouth out.
Needed more Xmasy stuff though besides stuff to buy. I dunno if you wanna be goofy like planting Xmas trees in Frozen City but you never know what the crowd will respond to.
Just don't point people to the forums.

Who ever sets the prices and sales seems to have no idea what they are doing. Though I guess the lack of good sales means money well spent somewhere other than MWO now doesn't it?

No, the community manager would never do such a thing. Trust me. I'd have been involved in several verbal battles with him if he'd ever think of acting that way.

Curiously, I was expecting more blood. Both from your forum interactions and but more so from that arrow wound.

I feel those battles represent the darkest days of PGI's development cycle, and wish for them to never repeat themselves ever again. So far, so good.

That said I didn't want to turn this into PS2 vs MWO. I'm not leaving MWO for PS2. I like both games and play MWO more, so I really don't want to derail things that way.
This is purely a really good F2P sale versus a really bad one, and a hope that in the future PGI offers some competitive deals that make the user base HAVE to buy into it. 50% off MC for example and I know I would cave.

But MWO is Beta.

That's HUGE.
If PGI could do a 2x MC Sale I'd probably drop $50-$100.

You're right, yet wrong. It's been proven small studios in particular benefit from lowering prices. So really PGI should be the one running the crazy fire sales, not Sony.
