No problem with the way they work, I'm just wanting large pulses to make a similar recharge sound.

Well, I personally think they need to fire 50% faster (their beam time be 50% faster, not the cooldown) than a regular weapon of the same type. Then ER weapons be ~25% faster than a weapon of the regular type.
This makes each pulse of the laser just that much more damaging per pulse.
Then the ER having a 25% decrease in beam time so that damage is more concentrated due to the extra range (better sniping, which it is used for).
So, a Medium Laser with 1s beam time should be 0.5s beam time for Medium Pulse Laser and 0.75s for ER Medium Laser.
But, that is a big off topic. In regards to the sound, what do you mean by a similar recharge sound?

I agree with teh Pulse lasers haveing shorter beam durations (which they already do have ingame... but why should ER Lasers deal their damage over a shorter time than their regular counterparts? It doesnt make sence... ER just means Extended Range. This has nothing to do with the beam duration or damage.
The extra heat they produce is to balance the fact that you can dela damage to Opponents further away from you.
