Back in BETA, my old gaming rigs wasnt much chop so i was suffering low framrates and small freezes.
As such, i wasnt enjoying the game much, because i couldnt get weapons on target and would just get chewed up by other players every round. Frustrating at best and rage inducing at worst.

I got myself i newer gaming rig, and I have much better frame rate and my freezes are a thing of the past. However, the gameplay hasnt changed.
I still get schooled, still cant hit anything.
I can get pointer on target, but having to compensate for the 300+ ping, the delay in pulling the trigger to the bloody weapon actually firing, trying to pre-empt a pilots erratic movment so that i can actually adjust my aim for 300+ ping...
All in all it given me the *****. Things are different for you guys in the states with 60 ping.

I was really looking forward to the "new Mechwarrior" but unless there is going to be a singleplayer (offline, none of the Fkn Diablo III singleplayer online ****) campaign - i'm just going to have to walk away and keep playing MW3 and 4.

Perhaps some of the other mech games can give me what i want - i am really dissapointed that i cannot be competitive (or even usefull) in this game.

Before you dicks start screaming L2Aim n00b. I can aim, and i have more situational awareness that your average player.
The problem comes when i cannot effectively dodge weapons fire without becoming a pinball down a canyon, or trying to make precision maneuvers and not having the timing right because of lag.
When your ping is running from 280 to over 400 it is all but impossable to adjust for it because it is not constant.

I play tanks with 350 ping, not a problem - but in MWO, 350 ping is a death sentence.

Unfortunatly, this has forced me to stop playing a game I want to like, and want to play.

Sorry to hear bad ping has ruined the game. Have you tried a LRM or SSRM boat?

Yes I can be a contributor with LRM's - but unfortunately I do not enjoy this style of gameplay.

Perhaps at some point I can return to the game and find some fun, but at this stage ... :P

I'm from Melbourne, I have high latency, I do fine. You're acting like having high latency to US servers is a new thing.

Brisbane here.

Agree with the OP, but sad to see him go.

I find about 7PM to 1am here the best time to play, since there are few US players with the sub 100 pings, and more Europeans with mid 100s.

My ping averages 280, so I know Ballistics and PPCs are shocking. The death sentence part is somewhat true. Your performance is deprecated.

Maybe you might like to try again after they implement State Rewind, which should make things much better for high ping players.

Brisbane here.

I sit around 250 to 280 ping but I guess I'm lucky as I don't seem to have any problems with driving or shooting with any of the weight classes.

I hope it improves in the future for you.

Firstly, you can always check back from now and then to see if it has improved. No need to completely quit.

Secondly, I am from Australia (as are some of the players above) and my pings on avg are about 300. I don't seem to be having the problems the OP is describing in terms of driving nor shooting and my most proficient weapon is the gauss! Sure I get rubberbanding from time to time but on the whole I don't seem to be having any issues too horrid that I can't play.

Keep an eye out. PGI does not want to disenfranchise its non NA playerbase. They should be buying international server space soon (I hope)

Sorry to see you go!

Before you do leave, try a stalker with 5 srm racks! I also have high ping, and have found that enemies dodge my fire a whole lot less if I am within 50 metres, exploding them.

I know. their min specs are terrible. It's like they dont want F2P MWO to succeed. Case in point, if you're making F2P, your market is people with "sub-par" equipment, although really, if you're building a game only playable on the "latest and greatest" you're pretty much complicit in the "consumer pushing" the industry wants, e.g. microsoft.

So it would seem its more of an issue with my connection. Other Aussie players are reporting more stable and lower pings.

For now I'll just take a break and wait for some more repairs to be carried out on the exchanges in my area.

i know ping is bad i'm an aussie too with an average 270 ping, my advice is get your self some lasers and srms and stick to a team mate and mimic his attacks, best thing for slow frame rates and stay out of brawls if you can. multiple mechs with multiple weapons going off on your screen doesn't help fps either.

ideally trie med and large lasers or pulse lasers on whichever mech can pack the most. at least then you're initial shots won't be wasted and the corrections will cause some damage :P

look at it this way when you have 300 ping. they can't hit you as much as you can't hit them

get yourself a light mech and live up the lagshield

while that sounds correct, it usually isn't. you might warp a bit as you turn, but otherwise, it is their connection to the server that dictates where they see you physically at. I learned this from lots of gameplay of suddenly lagging because of bandwidth hogs and still getting shot up extremely easy.

Your service provider may have something to answer for also. Unless you're with one of the companies that maintains the hardware(optus is usually the best) you're going to get bad service interruptions and be at the bottom of the 'priority list' for data traffic. 'High speed' is generally not an accurate description as your service will not maintain it's connection speed.

I can play at 12 FPS on a laptop from Melbourne because my lag is consistently bad. Also, if you're on a contract you can send them breach of service notices and they'll sometimes let you out of it.

Sorry to see someone leave. I goto say tho mate i think youre blaming things that you shouldnt tho. Im an Aussie also and run same pings around 250-300 and while not wanting to seem to brag i got a K/D ratio of close to 2. Im retired so i get to play anytime of day so i pug alot during US prime time then join up with an Aussie team in the evenings. Huge team with 400 on Roster but probably only half active, we have lots A class pilots all dealing with the lag. Look if you want to head over to the No Guts No Galaxy TS3 server you will find a heap of ausies there playing in the evenings, come have a look you may learn some stuff and play with guys with the same problems you have.
But anyways mate ping shouldnt be the problem stoping you playing, theres hundreds maybe thousands of players out there with same ping enjoying and exceling in the game.

Actually mate the way this game is handled server side the only people that sufer from lag are the people with the high ping especially with the last patch and the way they are fixing the netcode issue. Just nittpicking.
