Ok, so I was able to play 6 hours straight last noght with the following
technique:
Play 4 games then close and restart MWO.

I would usually get a low memory warning in game 5 and it would
crash in game 6.

Here are my observations:
CHanging maps makes this happen sooner.
I did a stint for 6 games straight on Caustic without
issues, so it looks like the map info or textures are not
flushing from memory adequately.

Go in mech lab:
Another stint of games was made by modifying my
mech in the lab. I did 7 games without crash.

Air quality and smoke in same map has the same effect as different map:
So I played the same map, forest-water with the broken container ship,
and having a foggy and smokey environment made me crash even
if I had played the same map for 3 consecutive games.

Now ind you this is not scientific and I could have false conclusions,
but at least it is repeatable and I can work around it.

M2R32MVP w/X2 6400+
4GB of dualchannel ECC ram
Asus Radeon 7500 times 2 in crossfire.
M-Audio 24/96 sound card.

The FPS bug, black screen, Crash to Desktop issues are being spawned from a memory leek in the Video card memory, not the system (motherboard) memory. Also because it is a leek the only solution to this is fixing the leek in the code. Having more memory will just allow you to play few more games before it happens again.

Until they fix the leek your only real option is to just restart the client every 5 to 10 games.

Leek? I'm not detecting any leek.
