People complain a lot about lights, but jenners never bothered me and commandos rarely do.
Ravens didnt untill recently when people have been putting huge engines in them.
My ping stays around 50, and so none of my unit have lag problems.
We all were discussing and agree that something may be wrong with the raven's hitbox.
Its really easy to keep lasers on a running ravens beak\body but no matter how many times you hit it there armor does not seem to take damage.
The only exception is when you hit them head on, or directly in the rear. Their legs also register damage more easily.
It does not make sense, its like the beak part of the raven is invincible.

You have to lead them. The amount you have to lead them varies match to match, so it's very frustrating, but it is how it is until they re-haul net code.

Ravens are the trickiest to hit, even with lasers. They might need a review in hitboxes just to be sure, but you do have to lead them even when they're not over-engined most of the time.

Even with my low ping (around 20, my ISP is right next to IGP), I just can't hit them effectively. Shooting them directly yields nearly no damage (did about 200 damage in appearance, ended up being 28 total damage on the scoreboard). I try leading by a very small distance (basically right in front of them), but even that doesn't seem to work.
I don't think there's much that players can do about it. Something's just wonky.

Raven hit locations in the torso are so close together that hitting any specific location is very difficult and almost boils down to a guessing game.

Yeah I am in the habit of aiming at the tip of the beak, im quite accurate. However I tested your theories and sadly this is true. I have to lead a running raven by nearly a whole body length ahead, making it impossible to pick which location I am targeting.

raven's center torso hitbox is ridiculously small relative to body. same with the stalker.

I had one today that I had legged with Mlasers. Now he's barely moving, he turns in towards me and I have good long period of dead on 100M out quiet time with the little guy so I start ripping on him with the triple UAC5's and I'm getting all the indications of a hit, lots of graphics and flashing HTAL but he's standing there coring me out while I'm putting on a fireworks show.
I can core non transveral moving mechs in seconds with this thing and he's taking me from yellow armor to orange internals... and he's just standing there! I had to pop him with laser by sweeping across an area 3 mechs wide.
That is messed up.
My Ping is about 120 most days, and I understand lag leading and have no problem hitting other light zippy mechs, it really feels like either full damage isn't registering or his hitbox is floating in the air somewhere other than where I see him.

No, its not netcode. Its the hitbox itself. I've fired at AFK-disconnected ravens with four LRM20s with line of sight+TAG at 500m range and the missile cloud hit the thing...and the damage the raven took? slightly yellow 'arm' armor. The rest was untouched.
Fired again. This time only one leg got hit.
Mind you, this is a 150+ dmg LRM volley hitting a STATIC raven twice and it did nothing.
The hitbox is VERY bugged.

It has nothing to do with speed. Lately I have been seeing Ravens come running through our main body, then they slow down to a crawl and let us shoot him. The mechs in question took very little damage, despite the fact that they were nearly standing still and had at least 5 mechs shooting at them. Judging by the way they nonchalantly strolled in and then just stood there, they knew that they were nearly invincible. I'm convinced that some people have figured out a way to cheat in the Ravens, because I haven't seen other mechs do this, and I have seen other Ravens die normally (normal for a RVN anyways).

There's definitely something wrong with Ravens. Even stationary Ravens are hard to kill, it's easier to damage a moving Jenner or Commando

And I thought it was just me. Good. I was wondering why a Raven could take so many hits from 2x AC-10s and a large laser. I must have hit that Raven at least 3 or 4 times with those weapons after legging him.
I sure hope the devs are looking in to that as we speak here.

Raven hit box is borked. Ive shot a stationary raven at close range with dual ac20's and it registered no damage ffs.
