Assault mode seems a bit silly to me. If I stand at your base long enough I win? What if the base were destructible? Then it would make a bit more real-world sense. It makes sense that destroying a base structure would mean the battle is lost.

Further, it would mean that a raven standing at my base would only mater a little, but an Atlas blazing away on my base structure would hurt much faster.

The implications are many, including the fact that a disabled mech can't go cap to win, and that weapons with ammo limits might stink for base destructions, but it's just a thought.

Best,

I agree with this post, seems more... assault, mode.. ish.

I was thinking replace the bases with destroyable Dropships. That would be fun. But blowing up the base is awesome, too.

The current game modes are very "arcade" style...and not very Mechwarrior-ish.

The need to create objective based PvP missions, with complex mission parameters and destructible non-mech targets...and ditch the kill/cap thing.

Destructible Bases would be incredibly cool and add a much needed difference from conquest, which is based on the /hurry up and wait' concept.
But then I'm also a fan of destructible environments so....

My vision of this game was always huge maps, with like 1 side being a mechbase, and the other side being a drop ship. Both bases would be armed with turrets and even vehicles. and the game would drop more people into the battle is it went along. But this way it is simulating an attack on a facility etc.

currently this game is very arcade and that works for quick lets battle senerios. I think when this game is developed the current game would be like gladiator wars or skirmishes. The larger game would encompass game play that simulates campaign objectives and simulated battlefields.

There is always need for 8v8 lets go quick. I would really love to see 48 v 48 on a map that takes 15 minutes to walk across.

Why would you want to destroy something when you can capture it? Doesn't make any sense from an objective point of view.

Just think of the standing next to the base as your 'mech's computer hacking into the bases control system or something.

LOVE this idea, I suggested something similar a while back.

The other reason I like it is it becomes, do I use my ammo to destroy their base or o I save it for the enemy? Do I heat my self up etc.

It also allows LRM boats to be come useful if some can spot for them as they can hit the base at a distance.

It would totally change the dynamic of the game. No more 8 on 1 pack hunts ifthe bae is fragile that you need to protect it.
