280xl
13dhs
ES
224armor
1.02 heat efficiency with basics maxed
113.4kph before speed tweak

2xERPPC
Advanced Zoom Module

It's not an optimal mech by any means, and you can't chain fire at all.
This is more a mech for those people looking to level their non-ECM Cicadas, and looking for an alternate build. You're a mobile sniper, and other lights will most likely kill you. If you're a good shot though, you can scare them away with one double blast.

Seize the distance with this mech. Hit people standing still, or hit slow heavies and assaults. Honestly, you can do a lot more damage running a 6xM-laser build with this mech, but if you want to practice your sniping but feel like a sitting duck with a cat or other mech, give this a try. You've got a 1620m max range to do at least some damage.

Sounds like a fun loadout but I'd never give up my 6 medium lasers:)

Man, bashing the build even though you watched me rip people apart! Classic!

Why the 2A though? Just curious. I just bought a 3M because I'm trying to branch out from Hunchbacks a bit.

My loadout is a similar concept.

1 ERPPC
XL300 121 Kph
14 DHS
ECM
Beagle
Endosteel

The ECM lets me snipe in peace : / I tried dual PPC/ERPPC but I just can't hit targets consistently enough to make that big alpha strike worth it.

Even on Caustic I can spam that single ERPPC almost without paying attention to my heat. Only done 5 games so far, 1-2 kills, 400ish damage a game.

I play as more a counter sniper than a sniper. I keep my eye out for LRM boats or other mech taking long shots and I try to sneak around and suppress them. Doesn't take much to make the LRM boats panic and stop targeting my teammates.

Why the 2A? Because you have to elite out two other variants if you want to master the 3M.

Lots of people in lots of builds are useless to teams. This is a pug build, not an actual team build. It's for messing around and developing sniper skills, not for making a huge difference consistently in matches.

You can do a similar build in an ECM 3M with 1xERPPC and 3xMlas.

If you know how to use the ER PPC you are not useless to the team. As the OP mentioned its a good way to grind and get better at sniping.

I had a nice sniper dual with a cicada pilot in River City Night. He using a gauss rifle. I was in my raven with an ERPPC. He was on the large hill over looking upper city. If he concentrated on the larger mechs in the brawl in upper city he would have really helped turn the tables. I won the dual by coring him. It took a while to do because we were both popping in and out of cover.

A sniper build even if you only have one ER large laser, ER PPC or gauss rifle can be an asset to the team. If the pilot knows how to snipe well, and call out movements of the enemy to the rest of the team.

OR, you could load up a 320 xl, max armor, 3 Mediums, 3 Smalls, and 14 DHSs and do what the mech was designed to do: flank the slows once the fight has started. Sniper builds on Cicadas don't work. You can run 1 PPC and 3 MDs with ECM and provide adequate support but you'll fail as a true sniper.

All that weight and heat for only 20 damage... you won't be able to fire often at all. Even 2xLL would let you do a lot more damage too, just because you'd be able to fire twice as often for almost as much damage (18).

If it's just to practice sniping or something, then sure, why not. Otherwise I'd say it's a pretty bad build.
