I've been playing now for a few weeks, and I've bought a few mechs (about 7). I've been playing with standard bought configurations, I get a few kills now and then (more then than now). I don't know how to change out equipment on my mechs, I just don't understand that part I guess. Is there a site that talks about it? I haven't seen anything on this forum. I love playing, but I'd love to change out some equipment and add some goodies. Also is there a simulation/simulator where you can test plug in equipment so you don't have to buy it first. I really love this game, I'm not very good, and I get my lunch handed to me often, but I still enjoy playing for hours. I'd love to get in with a group, I'm a social player so getting on team speak or Vent would be great for me. Sorry for being a noob, but at least I'm a motivated noob! Please be kind!

Go into mech lab where you buy those mechs, select one and look up near the top left where it says loadout, click there.

To change equipment on an owned mech, goto the mechlab tab (where you buy mechs) and select a mech.
Click on the loadout tab in the upper left.

Click on a section of the mech to see what's there, drag things between the mech and the list of items along the right side of the screen.
The list of items is separated into multiple tabs.

There are some sites that discuss builds, like mechspecs.com (or even the "Mechs" subforum on this forum)

My favorite website for checking quick stats or info about certain things would be mwowiki.org

There are also websites and offline tools for building mechs like mwo.smurfy-net.de and clan widowmakers offline java based mechbay program.

Here is a thread for public TS/vent/etc, if you pop in one of these and maybe poke someone in the right place I bet some would be happy to sit down and help you out or answer questions you have.

Also you could maybe watch some videos of 'pros' or whatever, even if they aren't that good, just to get an idea of what other players are doing and maybe find some cool new tips to try out. Stuff like the training grounds videos

I can also point out that I don't know where you all learned to play this but I am new here and it is nothing like Mechwarrior3 which I have played for years and have here. I need an area to set this thing up with my time to test keys on the keyboard, mouse and the joy stick. LIke a empty of others tutorial area. My extreme logictech pro joystick works fine with the original mw3 complication pack I have yet here even with the copy in to stuff from the page [Joystick_controller Advanced Workaround Support]{Throttle, Deadzone, Joystick Sensitivity & Logitech + Saitek Fix} stuff added an even simply trying to use the config to set the speed up and down on the throttle is impossible. It also takes the turn left and right and only uses 1 setting not the left or right direction. BUT and most important. Since both times I tried to play you dropped me right in a group of 8 it was impossble to resolve 1 problem and the common controls dont work. I will be unable to play something I have been playing since battletech power hits 8-bit and bought all up to mechwarrior 4 since it is so un natural a configuration. Until I see tutorial area to walk around and get adusted, again I am not even going to bother trying again as being a disappointment Is something I DONT NEED.

Thanks for the help, the video (didn't know there was more than one), really helped. I've played with one of my mechs on load outs and the one thing is all the weapons fire off at once. Before, the LRM20's fired on 1, and the small lasers fired off on 2. Now anything I load all line up in one, I hit the left button or 1 and everything goes off. When I had LRM10's, SRM's, and medium lasers, everything lined up in 1. You're help before was great, and I appreciate everyone's patience, this last bit (for now) would really be of great help. Thanks in advance.

You can config your weapon in groups only ingame (the combat part) with the "right ctrl" and "arrow keys".
The Arrow Keys move a horizontal and a vertical bar and where the bars cross you can switch on/off the weapons group for the weapon in that row with the Right Control key.
You have six weapon groups available to put weapons in, any weapon can be in one or more weapon group.
The Left Mouse Button fires the Weapon Group that is highlighted by the vertical bar, the Right Mouse Button fires allways Group 2.

Thanks, I got it. That's really a lot of help. I got in on Team Speak and queried some people on House Davion and they were very help too. I appreciate the help, thanks again. Getting in on team speak and querying some of those folks will really help fill the gaps. I should have done that a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to learn as much as I could, before I became a pest.
