I was thinking, how awesome would it be if (in the future when this game is out) if there would be an app to keep track of the current state of the universe. Something like a map of the current state of the MW:O universe (who controls what planets) So you could keep track of whats going on ;)

Or if not an App, just an up to date map of the universe on the MW:O page so when us mechwarriors with day jobs can keep an eye on things (so we can plan where we will counter attack when we can play later :) )

Great Idea. It could also track if your guild mates are online and have a calendar were you could schedule wen you will be online.

That would be great! Maybe it could even show a brief status update on your mechbay and stuff.

I'd also like to see an app to track currently available merc contracts and a feed for any planetary changeovers.

mobile apps, cellphones, vita, etc are for tech addicts. i hope they don't actually reward that stupidity and focus on developing the game itself.

C'mon, why the vitriol?
People making apps doesn't necessarily push the release date. Play nice.

You know, given a little API I'm almost certain one fan or another would build that app in due course. ;)

Smart phone utility was discussed in the GDC no guts no glory podcast
Mentioned was a login where you could spectate bet c-bills upon matches & put a bounty (from your own money i presume) on players that you don't like / think are not playing fair

That being said i think with a game where community warfare is an important part even if the devs don't come up with something third party apps will most likley be developed even if just one to keep a garage list for you.

Note the NGNC conversation is not a confermed app and i have no connection to them just heard it and thought cool.

Me i would like to see a daliy comstar vid cast including important gmeplay footage from that day

I don't believe that the app referenced in the podcast was for MWO

Again even if it's just a mobile version of the site I'm down with much of this. Even though I don't have a smartphone anymore. (Work won't let me have a camera OR a phone at work so eh...)

i was under the impression that with the android open source software, you should be able to crank out a 3rd party app and add it easily, especially if it's free.

Shame i was kinda looking forward to it for when i need to waste time away from the PC like on my lunch break. Still even if PGI don't make apps they will appear just will most likley be a lower quality i know the LOTRO apps are pretty rubbish and would have liked offical ones more if they are implemented with the same care the rest of the game is getting

Relax, there's no such thing as license to build mobile apps, basic tools and mobile SDKs are free.

However ,the holders of the Battletech IP need to ok any use of it. A Mobile App would probably fall outside the agreement they made for MWO. They might have been foresighted enough to include a caveat about sucha thing.

Who knows. Regardless, its still a great idea that takes my Fanboi obsession with me on my phone/Tablet.
