Many of us claimed the PC Gamer mech skin and those of us who have it know it can only be fitted to as many mech as you want (assuming the art work has been done for the chassis) and removed/replaced without losing it. Cockpit items are similar but can only be fitted to a single mech at a time.
This is the message you get when you are about to remove the PC Gamer skin
With that in mind I purchased the Phranken skin for my Stalker. When I tried to fit it to another mech I saw that I would be charged another 750MC and believed that, like the cockpit items, it could only be fitted to a single mech at a time so I went and replaced it with the default on the Stalker.
On trying to fit it to another mech I saw I was still going to be charged 750MC so at that point believed the skins were either chassis or variant only (which I dont have any particular objection to beside the inconsistency) and went to put it back on the Stalker....
...which was going to cost me another 750MC :-(
So at this point I've basically lost/wasted 750MC
So I petitioned and the GM advised me that this behaviour is intentional and that you are warned when removing/replacing the skin that you are about to lose it.
Here's the message when you get when you are about to replace the Phranken skin (read: permanently lose something you paid real money for)
These two message are identical and do not suggest that you are about to PERMANENTLY delete something you paid MC nor is this behaviour consistent with the first camo pattern (the PC Gamer one) added to the game that many players will be basing their expectations from.
I respectfully disagree with the GM that the warning is adequante for what is about to happen and while, in my particular case, a somewhat satisfactory resolution was arrived at I would also like to point out that the current policy is no refunds so you are basically out of luck and out of pocket!
Therefore I would like to offer the following feedback:
Vanity items purchased with MC should not be able to be permanently lost. The Camo patterns should remain in your 'inventory' to be reapplied whenever you like (just like the PC Gamer skin).
The current message is no where near sufficient even if a player has no experience of the PC Gamer skin, if camo patterns are not going to act like cockpit items then the message needs to make it clear that you are about to lose something you paid real money for!
