I would like to start off by saying I love the Mechwarrior/BT universe and have been a fan for a long time. I want this game to succeed, very much so. I believe that many of us here also feel this way. Many have strong opinions about what needs to happen to make this game interesting, fun, balanced and a winner for both us the players and PGI.

However, there are so many posts in these forums about this. Some are just flame-fests, others have well intended suggestions mixed with replies of vitriol. I really have no idea how the devs can keep up, and in fact, they might not be due to these very reasons. Really...we may be cutting our own throats if we continue on this way. I think it would be of great benefit to all of us to have one thread where we can discuss and share our ideas about the current state of the game as of when the post was made. It may even serve another purpose as an archive of sorts, to show where the game has been...is now...and what direction it may be heading. It could even answer questions for people about how items in game relate to one another and broaden understanding of the game as a whole. Even if it isn't this particular thread, I would hope that a general feedback thread will be made so that players could post thoughts, ideas and hash out details about the current state of the game. Again, this would be to actively identify "issues" and discuss and hammer out ideas as a foundation for coherent suggestions to the developers so the game could be improved. I also think this could very well cut down on multiple posts containing the same or similar complaints and make the forums a more pleasant place to visit for the casual and hardcore MWO player. Another benefit would be that ideas could be bounced off other players, other points of view could be given, and maybe even solutions could be offered to the benefit of everyone.

I was going to add my thoughts in this initial post, but after writing this I have decided it may be a good idea to just hold off for now. If this thread takes off, I will return to give my two shiny pennies worth. And just to be clear, it is not my intention to make a b---- errr..."complaining" thread. In fact, I would ask people that if you have an issue with a particular part of the game, that you try to add a suggestion to fix said issue, or don't post at all. It is after-all, my intention to start a "discussion" thread.

Oh, last but not least...Merry Christmas!

I think right now the game is really fun, but needs a few adjustments. Gamers are notorious for overreacting to things and going about how things will "break the game". I feel that the game right now is not broken, but you can tell it's still a work in progress.

To the developers, you have done a fantastic job so far bringing new life into the Battletech franchise. MechWarrior Online is a good video game representation of the Battletech tabletop many here know and love. My initial reaction to the game months back in Closed Beta was one of great fun. Months later I still play it regularly and expect to play it for months to come. At no point have I regretted the $60 I paid for my Founders package.

However I feel that you need to work on a few things as a company. Your development team is strong and are doing great work. One thing you guys need to consider is being a little more open about what is going on. That is please don't put a patch out without some patch notes here, even the small hotfixes. Let us know what is going on, nobody likes to be out of the loop.

One thing I feel would be a good idea, is to borrow an idea from EVE Online. A couple of years ago CCP (EVE Online's developer) created a player council known as the Council of Stellar Management. These were players from the game, elected by the players to act as a bridge between CCP and the playerbase. This allowed the developer to get an idea of what the player's wanted prioritized in terms of new content and development resources.

MechWarrior Online is one of my favourite new games of 2012, and the way things are going it will be one of my favourites of 2013 as well.

Happy holidays,

Zerbob

I love this game in any form. I have been waiting for years for someone to get the rights to do it. I would like to see it expand to a vast universe with drop ships and all or something like Mech Warrior Mechs. I loved that game. I am glad for any thing that they create and I have bought mech credits to show that support. :(

Ive been a fan of Mechwarrior since the first PC game. The game is WAY to one dimensional right now......log in, kill the other guy....match over....They need to add more things to do.

like many here I have waited 10 years hoping that someone will have the balls to get the franchize and do smth with this awesome game. Now that is here my only hope is that we, yes WE - players and dev. aswell, are worthy enough to make this game what we all want...we need to be constructive and help the dev., and they need to listen what community expects and make things happen and a fast pace, don't let the game and ppl interest slowly die...

Totally in agreement.

Certainly things are not remotely close to perfect. Let's face it:

1) NetCode needs shored up, lag shield and such eliminated
2) Matchmaking needs to be balanced out such that inferior players can't just sync drop on PUGs, and 8 mans don't have to essentially play ECMwarrior Online. Allowing no more than a 4 man premade per side in drop matchmaking, a "Solo" que for pure Puggery, and adding a slightly randomized weight metric to 8 man would fix those issues.
3) Find a better way to "control" Lower skill weapons like LRMs and Streaks The weapons are not the problem (well, mostly) the Boating of them is. Perhaps increasing chance of ammo explosions by a large factor for weapons holding more than 4-5 tons of same class ammo, or the like. Ammo, by nature is volatile stuff.
4) .... PLEASE focus the damage from PPCs to make them worth the heat burden? and speakign of
5)Heat Burden, the old TT charts ahd a number of random efffects that would crop up with high heat, things like sluggish mech response, penalties to targeting. Think about the glitches a video card today gets when it overheats. Things like losing your targeting reticle, or having it intermittent, and unable to hold locks, while riding certain portions of the heat scale would discourage boating lasers.

would make a lot of difference.
Even having a "pro" and "casual" que for people, or accounts, or whatever so that the casual who wants his stompy uber Gundam with max tech but doesn't want to grind can play there, whereas those of us who are interested in the future CW, and actually GET IT when it comes to grinding, RnR, and such can have the game you guys have tried to promote from inception.

And the uber stumpy casual que even allows the Pros a good outlet to test new mech chassis and such BEFORE investing hard ground resources. (Call it the Virtual World Solaris Pew Pew Que or something).....
so yeah, the list could go on.

BUT THAT BEING SAID

even with my gripes, I still find myself playing WAY too many hours on this, as even in the current limited, and occasionally broken form, it is pretty darn addictive and yes IT . IS> MECHWARRIOR! (even if the code and such won't allow me the cool immersion factor of my old Sidewinder FF joystick... sad panda)

Anyhow, I have been playing this game in TT, and Computer form since 1987, love teh fluff, the canon, the dna that makes Battletech such an enduring and popular IP. And I have spent more than a penny supporting the Devs in this, and plan to continue to do such (though a little less egregiously expensive Paint Shop wouldd go a long way to making amends for some stufff........).

My only hope is that the Publisher keeps their damn hands outta it and stop trying to force too many "casual friendly" changes to the CORE of the game, and instead allow them to design the core game properly, then make and add casual friendly formats to it. Lieka Solaris 7 dueling arena. That will allow them to have uber maxed pew pews and lovely kdr coddling without actualyl affecting those who want a strong Meta, perpetuating game in CW.

Wow.. I really need to not get on these forums pre-caffeine.....
