The Bigger They Are...

The year is 2541 and the Free Worlds League of (House Marik) 11th Atrean Dragoons Commandos take down a Steiner CNR-3C Condor BattleMech on a scouting mission with a headshot from a SRM Launcher (Short Range Missile) with HE (High Explosive) Anti-Mech round in a swamp on the world of Bolan which is a border world to the Lyran (House Steiner) front. This was one of the few brief victories the 11th Atrean Dragoons had during the legendary battle of Bolan in which the regiment was effectively destroyed as a fighting force for nearly 2 centuries under the leadership of Ewan Marik.

The 11th was formed when the Free Worlds acquired BattleMechs in 2484 and had been assigned to the Lyran front up to 2541 where it saw heavy combat till its decimation in which time the regimental banner of the 11th was turned over to Erin Chu, a former mercenary leader who had entered the Mariks service as a military advisor. Chus skill and charisma helped her recruit a complete regiment of battle worthy veterans. During the Succession Wars, the 11th has acquitted itself well, earning nearly three dozen Distinguished Service Awards. An interesting feature of the 11th is its extraordinary level of technical support and resupply, unusual for an otherwise unremarkable unit. Some have speculated, however, that this is due to the close ties between the units’ commander, Colonel Omar Sandusky, and the notorious businessman Alejandro Derida-Stewart.

Very nice.

Good use of the Condor mech.

2 questions.

1) What's the deal with the foot plate. Should I be seeing the outline of a former Gropo?

2) What's the Battery powering????

Thanks guys... I have 3 done and uploaded so far.

Chewie,

For your 2 questions the foot plate was just another shot I liked with the indents of the mech's feet in the dirt / mud and the knocking of the trees down showing the roots. Hard to see in my old digital stills as they did not have double digit megapixel cameras back then. The battery powers and illuminates the explosion in the head. It gives a really nice glow effect that could never be done with paint alone. This was the single most time consuming part of the model, as I had to make the explosion out clay, casting it with resin and embed the lights, and of course painting. ;)
