Steiner scout lance, consisting for 4 Atlases, preferrably:

1X D-DC for ECM coverage
1X K model for dual AMS protection and direct long range fire support
2X D models, equipped with AMS, to punish anyone getting in close

Our Scout Mech is the Zeus, not Atlas. Atlas is our Medium Mech.

Perfect Steiner company, right there.

I saw a 3man of 3x LRM15 Atlai once in a PUG game (they may have had a TAG scout with them for a 4th, didn't confirm), they all had their team colorscheme too, no doubt they were a premade.
I personally took great pleasure in running up their flank and blowing the LT off of 2 of them (one had an XL as well, and was cursing me for the rest of the match).
Most useless pre-made I have ever seen, given how none of them were watching their flank/rear.

Probably overconfidence doomed them. Eating a salvo from 3 missleboats while having a TAG scout on your tail might be really brutal. I also salute you fellow mechwarrior for delivering the justice to overconfident boaters.

4 cataphract brawlers worked wonders for me in a premade, played about 10-15 matches and won em all. The pugs usually follow 4 cataphracts heading in one direction and we just rushed em making use of cover, ravens can only dodge so much ballistic fire at any given time :)

In Horizon we've usually been running something like the following for our 8-mans (usually a mix of the below):

x2 Dragons (we almost always have at least two Dragons)
x1-x2 Awesomes
x1 Atlas
x1-x2 Ravens/Jenners
x1-x2 Catapult
x1-x2 Centurion/Hunchback

Wait, what is my hypothetical 4 Kobold lance?

Kobold 1: SRM Cat
Kobold 2: Splatapult*
Kobold 3: 5x5 STK-5M**
Kobold 4: Gaussaphract

* To be replaced with a JagerSplat when it is released.

** Possibly replaced with a SRMbucket when released.

Beer and crisps (what is a crisp? a potato chip?) means dragon time. Preferably 4 for the most hilarious effect

crisps are what americans (mistakenly) call chips
chips are what americans (mistakenly) call fries

Aside from the ever present 'Atlai of Doom' and 'Murder of ravens' lances (4 mechs), does anyone have suggestions for diverse, balanced and effective lance compositions? 8 or 12 if you're feeling really ambitious.

When I run my 4SP I love having an identical 4SP next to me.

I've found just having a two man in whatever mech we want is enough to give you a 90% win rate in drops, having a 4 man in a planned lance seems like major overkill, just play the mech that needs xp.
