Had an unfortunate incident today where I misclicked on pay by MC instead of paying for a mech by C-Bills.
Mea Culpa and all that, but it's an error that could be avoided with better design (in this case a very simply design change).
Move the buy by MC option into the top left corner, or top right corner. Make it a different colour. It's frustrating and disappointing to misspend real money with no recourse because you were chatting away while buying a new mech.

It's already a different color button, and there's a confirmation box before you actually go through with the purchase. You should not require the game to hold your hand because you couldn't be bothered to pay attention.

Wow. You're a snarky little fella.
I totally agree with Zaptruder. I've been designing UI's for a couple of decades now. Both buttons are yellow. Different shades of yellow, but still yellow. Easy to mix up for a normal-sighted person...a disaster for anyone who is color blind, and thus NOT handicap-friendly. They'll change it, just about guaranteed.
Your response to Zap was childish. He explained his issue well and politely, and you backhanded him for it. Bad form.
Quite frankly, you, sir, should not expect the players of the game to have to divert 100% concentration on such a simple task as paying for a mech while organizing a drop or chatting with chums. The game is supposed to be fun, and it's fun to chat over TS with your lancemates between drops. "Sorry I can't talk right now, I have to figure out this UI so I don't screw up" isn't something that anyone should have to say.
"Buy MC" and "Buy CB" are both pretty awful labels on those buttons as well. The whole top level UI is highly boogered up right now, and I'm sure they'll iron it out after they get the core problems fixed.
Zap's suggestion is pure gold to a developer/designer because they're getting input without having to do proper user-scope testing.
You just hopping on the PGI soap box without actually considering that his suggestion is not only valid, but will likely be implemented in the future, just makes you look like a really aggressive lemming.

The buttons are already different colours(one orange one yellow), they have drastically different labels and you get confirmation boxes verifying if you wish to purchase when selecting different currencies. What more safeguards are needed?
The OP screwed up and even went through the verification check that is already in place. I even did this myself once and i realized that it was my screwup since i accidentally clicked the button to buy a mechbay and by reflex confirmed when the confirmation box popped up.
What else do you need? Captcha and auditory sounds that read out the purchase currency so you can hear it as well Undergoose? When you go to a store and buy something that says "no returns" and then try to return it does the store say "oh sorry we didnt know you had your eyes closed to the message and didnt listen to us at the cash when we said that there are no returns" and take it back anyways or change their policies just because of someone not being able to take some responsibility for their actions?
The first reply by Kyossed wasnt overly anything other than blunt or honest and if youre that sensitive over someone else e-feelings undergoose maybe you should find another pass time and other humans to associate with. Im sure that Zaptruder doesnt need you to police his posts for him to gaurd his feelings if he is even as sensitive as you to someone being open and honest.

'Drastically different labels'?
Necromantion, you've obviously never worked in any sort of UI development. "Buy MC" and "Buy CB" are most definitely NOT drastically different. If you've ever looked at a color wheel, you'd know that yellow and 'orange' as you call it are rubbing right up against each other. Making drastically different buttons using drastically similar colors is bad design juju in any media. It has been for centuries.
What I need, Necromantion, is for you to understand that what he's asking for is nothing more than what a good design would already have built into it.
That store you mentioned, Necromantion? Yeah, I'd be right there at customer support raising hell if that 'No Returns' sign was printed in orange on yellow paper.
And OBVIOUSLY, Necromantion, the confirmation box isn't working because it looks just like the 170 unnecessary confirmation boxes that we click through all day long in the mech lab when making simple changes to our mechs. You yourself just admitted to being caught by this and unintentionally spending real world money due to nothing more than poor usability design.
Of course, Necromantion, I don't need captcha (by the way, captcha is for security, not accessibility), but the option for auditory sounds isn't out of the question, and it's terribly politically incorrect of you to insinuate that the visually-challenged members of our community aren't welcome or good enough here at MWO. How rude.

Open and honest != condescending and insulting. Kyossed was out of line with the 'holding hands/can't be bothered' snipe, Necromantion.
And Necromantion, I'm sure that Kyossed doesn't need you to police his posts to guard his feelings, although I do appreciate your fledgling attempt at sympathetic e-sensitivity.
Maybe you should find another pastime besides following me around on the forums and trying to troll so much, Necromantion.

Yeah because the text on the buttons is totally yellow on orange or orange on yellow right?
You realize that a lot of stores do a no returns policy on drastically reduced or clearance items right?
The confirmation box works just fine if people read it, and yes i admitted that i didnt.
My examples of captcha and auditory prompts were purely to show how much you were blowing this out of proportion.
The initial response is probably the same response that he would get if he called PGI. Their verification window covers their butts if someone was to complain that they didnt mean to purchase something and wanted a refund. "Well you did click the button right that confirmed you wished to make the purchase" is the same as "well you signed the waiver when you went skydiving that the company that owned the operation was responsible for your misuse, error or other actions resulting in bodily harm or death"
