Is the same way they do it in the fiction and in scenario packs. Numbers. a Clan star is meant to balance against an IS 12 mech division.
5v12. 5 clanners VS 12 IS, with each team having an average of 60 tons per mech. Bamf. their far higher efficiency and small close knit units would be pretty well balanced I think against a larger but weaker per man 12 man force.

titling your post "the only way" is likely to get you ignored by most, and flamed by many of the rest.

what you suggest is the only KNOWN method. to be honest i think repair and rearm would balance out clan tech beautifully if they reimplement it. high end mechs stay extremely expensive to run so all but the best players would have to spend time in cheaper mechs between those clan mech matches refilling their supply of cbills. and i really hope they do bring RR back, but that is for a different thread.

So clans are for clans? (pun intended) I'm okay with that.

Or some people will buy mechs with MC and sell them for Cbill so they can always use the best equipment, thus making it P2W.

yes that will likely happen and they will supply a steady stream of funds to the developers. it will still keep the amount of clan tech and high end mechs on the field low. players who send a steady stream of money to the developers so that that player can suck less will be rare.

and if they maintain a steady stream of money to the developers, then the game will continue longer with more patches, mechs, game modes, etc...

i would welcome these players with open arms because they are supporting a game i love.

Not true, millions of people will pay a monthly subscription to play MMOs, this would be a different form of subscription. Also clan mechs aren't a noob tube, a good player in a clan mech is better then a good player without.

And a Bad Player is still bad in Any Mech™. And an Ace Player is still good in Any Mech™.
