Match 5: Forest Colony Snow Assault
We started at D2 base

Enemy defended, and the team walked into it piecemeal.
Died walking into the obvious trap next to an atlas.

161 dmg
0 kills
2 assists
118 XP (nobody finished off the Stalker I took down to Red internals)
Loss 8-2

this guys doing us all a big favour by explaining what pugging's really like, you are only as good as your weakest team mate. kills can come good and quick when your team's on the ball or when their team hasn't a clue what they are doing but the best of us can be thrown into traps, g*angb*anged finding you're engaging with the team then the next minute they've all gone somewhere else leaving you to take on a sudden rush etc etc. quiet simply there is no I in team.

Is that 45 rounds for each gun or 45 shared between the two?

Actually, I was just interested in seeing if he was getting teams with way more founders on one side than the other and how often as an indication of the borked MM system.

Not really interested in participating in a premade vs pug debate, its toxic and hurts the entire game community in general.

Edit for clarity.

Hunchbacks were the first mechs I mastered after Open Beta.
I could also take my Founder's Jenner out I suppose.

Honestly though, I'm playing the Cataphract because it's not one of the power builds, and I want to work on my Elite progression with it.

I'm curious how well being able to carry your team (thanks to the skill) scales with the weight class. It's pretty interesting (at least to me) if it's easier to win by competitively playing a heavy/assault class mech (more dakka and armour), or a medium/light (good old "speed is life") mech.

I believe it depends on who drops in your team. When I'm pugging I usually opt for one of my Atlases as it just seems easier to herd the pugs into a simple plan of assault or ambush.

Never discount a good light player though, especially if he has 300 ping =)

Whoops, misread that, 75 ammo. 5tons combined.
I'll post my full build when I get back from dinner.

I can try tomorrow with my old-faithful Hunchback-P (2x LL, 6x SL, 1x ML STD 245). I've just not been playing it much recently due to it being mastered with ~30k spare XP leftover.

Having dinner, I'll continue the experiment in 30-45min.

Cool, I will be looking forward to it.

EDIT: accidental doublepost instead editing.

Yeah I agree, if you're getting dropped with a bunch of newbs in trials you can't do much no matter how big and heavy you are. Still I'm wondering if there's a correlation between carrying the game in a heavier mech and winning more often.

Also... One small interesting note - pugs are more prone to listen to a guy who is piloting an atlas rather than listening to a guy inside a small commando.

Founder tags have zero to do with dirtside gaming man, really. That's all to do with kicking into a cared-for franchise in the hopes it wouldn't fall off the earth again, or even "feeling cool" because you were there early, like a FIRST post. They don't win you matches. Not once has a giant golden shield appeared in a match and saved me from a superior pilot who spent their money on pizza instead of MWO. Elo matching will deffo have some gold tags in the bottom ranks, as well as freeplaydudes in the top ranks, because it's all about how you pilot dirtside. How much money you have to waste on entertainment doesn't make you a better pilot in the least.

I really think there's a huge misunderstanding as to the nature of Founder's tags and the players sporting them. It's another one of those potentially toxic community splits you're talking about.

He was only asking because he was interested in the distribution of them.

As promised: here's the build I'm using: CTF-3D

As a sidenote, I am getting some usage out of the jumpjets, but mainly for quick turns and short hops. They feel very underpowered compared to what a Cataphract used to be able to do (I am using 4, max available on chassis).

Then it's cool, my apologies. It's just at least the fourth time today I've seen someone bring up tags in an otherwise unrelated topic, it's starting to get to me.

Hey OP I wonder if you can make a similar experiment with a medium/light mech.

I'm rolling my 4SP not with CJF right now as I'm out with family.

Will start a new thread.

Huh, not quite sure why it got moved. It's definitely more on-topic than most of the stuff in General Discussion.

[further edit] I'll continue the experiment later, seems someone in the house is streaming movies, can barely refresh the forum page...

Stopped for dinner, and then the family started watching streaming HD TV.

I'll continue this as a series at least until I get info for a good 20-25 matches, hopefully 50 or so for a good sample size.

Not sure why one of the Mods moved this into off-topic.
