[Cold Macaroni]

There are plenty of other solid pilots I've played with and against, but very few of them have been "wOw" good by themselves. Something I see far more often is really solid group synergy with just the right 3 or 4 players, mechs and roles.

I will however add my voice to the Wispsy crowd. A farily average scout in the intel and LRM spotting sense, but a heck of a interceptor and light brawler.

i forgot his name... but i was in a 130kph centi and this guy NEVER missed a single volley of 2 rack of srm6 and lasers. infact it was so accurate i couldnt believe it. i was using terrian to jump up and down and make it hard for him to hit but yet the accuracy of his aiming was damn near 100%... its unfortunate i have a crappy memory and cant remember

Not sure you can pay any attention to any K/D ratio except your own. Seen far too many disconnecting pilots this holiday season when battles turned against teams. On the other hand had a team of 3 disconnect themselves on our side earlier because they had friends in a 4 man on the other side.... The other side bum rushed us and still lost 5 people - felt like a victory tbh.

I havent faced off against her since closed, but Applejack was pretty damn good with her twin AC/20s

i certainly don't grade good pilots by the stats considering how messed up the game is at the moment.

yes i've seen that player, made very good use of cover just waiting to pounce on the unexpected. sure twin ac20's are cheesy but are not good range wise, now the gauss kitty has the benifits for greater range so little draw backs, now that's cheesy. that's the sort of thing i think of when we talk about good pilots. people who succed when the odds are against them and they hold their own. not people holding teammates hands and merrily holding back whilst the meatshield ahead do all the dirty work and then they collect on a beaten up opposition. tons of high k/d players who do that.

No single player can carry a team. Your only as good as your team. If you have a good team you can beat anyone. Also if your on a good team, its hard to stand out.

I think UNTIL CW comes and we actually have ELO and matchmaking and leaderboards of some sort, the best players really wont be the best until proven by those measures.

I can't remember a single guy i have played with.
I mean... if i would see the same guys all day long, it would mean 200 guys are playing this game, which would be sad.

I see different guys getting 3-4 kills+ 3 assists on something like 700 damage almost every single game i play. Since i have not seen anyone score 8 kills on 1600 dmg so far, i would have to name like 200 different guys for the greatest player i have seen award, because they are all equally good.

More than the bugs is the nature of gameplay. A good scout isn't going to have great K/D, and it's not real hard to deal a bunch of damage in an assault. As others have said already (if not so specifically), a high K/D does not a good player make. My brother runs an atlas build that is designed to strip armor, then leave the kill to someone else. His K/D isn't great, but he's a great asset to the team. I like to run gunkiller builds where i duck in and out of a brawl focusing on a mechs power weapons. I've only got ~1.25 K/D, but I rarely leave a game without taking a couple of AC/20's (or similar) with me.

I'd nominate xfreewater, who simply appears and distracts your enemy anytime you call for help. It's like magic.
