1,000 invites this week expected.
More then that if people have trouble showing up.
*Ninjas! Ninjas everywhere!*

1,000 / 7 = 142
(.87/100) x 114800 = (0.0087) x 114800 = 998.76 (round up = 1000)
Maybe this is just wishful thinking, but isn't that just forum members? Don't they have to then also sign up for the beta?

Yes they also needed to update their profile with system specs, and then again with the questionnaire so yea the % of chance actually rises up from .87% but since the number of those that successfully did make both updates is unknown, we have to assume that 114,800 with a VERY slight margin of error, made the required updates.

I highly doubt any significant ammount of users would sign up for the forums and not the beta...
This is true now, but you're not taking into account people that signed up for the forums (or "reserved their pilot name") before beta signups, then left and never came back.

you right,SOME "noobs" will be better for beta testing than SOME people that have been into battletech/mechwarrior thing for years but...
generaly most of the old school hardcore maniacs ( simply people that have good knowledge about this ) are more helpfull.
I disagree. Having both noobs and old hands give you feedback can give you the ability to increase the accessibility of the game for the new players while keeping a feel that harkens itself to the veterans as well. Developers need both groups to make the game as successful as possible. Also, I don't know why you would need extensive Battletech knowledge to report glitches and bugs. If a noob sees an Atlas levitating in midair I'm pretty sure they'll have the required brainpower to report it rather than writing it off as part of the lore they don't understand. Some things are just obvious like that.

All betas i participated invited more and more people over time. The reason is simple, you can check basic hardware and connection issues in small groups of testers, but to check how the game performs under pressure, for that you need a lot of people PLAYING the game. Not authorised accounts for beta testing, but players who start the game and play.
Let's take EVE online, for example. There is roughly 15-45k players online, which means 3-10% of their total paying accounts are active at every moment. If you invite 1k folks, there may be roughly 50 guys playing. I don't know if the factions are implemented yet and how is the matchmaking set up, but chances are that with those numbers matches may not happen more often than once, twice per hour, which is somehow lacking if you want those guys to tell you something about the game they simply don't get to play that often.
So my guess would be we may see quite a lot of folks invited in next weeks.

I say this. If you get accepted, you get accepted. I'm not going to lose sleep over this. If I wake up tomorrow or next week with a beta invite I'd totally be excited. if I don't, well I'll just wait till founders packages release so I can get in a bit early.

nice! Thanks for an actual number
Other people have made good reasons to indicate that this is a very conservative %, so I suppose that means this is a worst case probability woot

They are going to want to stress their servers more and more as time goes on I am sure. So they would allow people in as their servers allow.
That's my guess anyway...
