In the 'in game' menu, there is a check box for VOiP.

In the past, with this selected, and you joined a group or formed one, the browser would pop up and on the screen would be a, for lack of better words, link to C3 Voice Comms software, or actually the website for the download would be there.

IF you already installed C3, when you joined a group or formed a group, the game would start C3 for you and even try to put you in a room with those you were joining in the group or create a room if you started the group in game.

NOW, nothing.

So, uh, what happened?

C3 is not a bad voice comms piece of software and has some nice features. Mine even has a MWO skin. the voice clarity is excellent.

I know many use TS3 and others, but this was, as I understand it, a partnership with PGI and Vivox to be "THE" integrated VOiP software. Now, nothing happens. Why?

Anyone know?

Dunno, haven't heard much about it since the initial shot at integration. I tried it a bit but didn't like it compared to ts/vent/mumble. I'm not sure if it was C3 itself I didn't like or it's MWO integration. TBH I had never even heard of it before MWO.

I remember all the press releases months ago about integrating C3, hopefully it is still on the agenda...

C3 is also Beta, but I have noticed their 'support' is nowhere close to that of PGI's.

We had 1 guy that could not get the push to talk feature to work except on his left mouse key. Submitted ticket, posted on forums, no response, over a month has passed....

What dd you not like (other than the support)? Once you figure out how to use it, it seems fine. I actually found it easier to use than TS3, but thats just me...

Its not integrated voice chat if you have to go outside the game to get the thing to work.

I and my 2 friends I play with still use C3. Never had any issues with it but I also have seen 0 updates about it since I originally downloaded it. I really like it because it is super easy to use while still an effective comms system.

Dont know why more games dont just use what DDO did, have their own voip in game for people in groups. Not an external program running. That is the only way you will get some people to use voice comms is if its simply click to use or not.

It only seems to work automatically if you group up before the drop (which requires the same amount of planning and pre-grouping as using TS). I would expect it should allow everyone on the same team to communicate and not just those who had the foresight to form a group.

I honestly never gave it too much of a chance... have used TS3 for too long I guess... should go back and at least "attempt" to make some use out of C3...

Think my biggest issue when I first tried C3 was, in TS3 I use the click on my mouse wheel as my PTT button, but in C3 I couldn't get it to work... what can I say, I'm old... hard to switch buttons I've been using for so long... :)

In my mind this is the biggest balance issue with PUGs vs. premades. Random drops can't use voice and all, and a premade group can.

I imagine that PGI wants to have everyone be able to use voice chat with their team, no matter what, but they have to work with C3 to get it.

What we do is start the game. Then start C3. We have our own Channel. We then join the channel. so when some one comes 'online', we know it because we hear them before we see them in game 'friends'. We all use the same channel (and even sub-channel, c3 allows you to be in more than one channel) for groups.

If we have 6 online, we put 3 in the channel and 3 in the sub channel, that way we can all talk, but still be in different matches OR have only 2 in BOTH channels so that the TALK is limited to the game / match each channel is in.

We havent noticed the 'auto launch' happening at all, that is why we just join C3 when we fire up the game.

I agree the best solution is to not have a separate download, to integrate VOiP in the game itself, and to channel 'team mates' of the match together as you are placed in match/server. Again, MWO and C3 are beta and this may come at a later date, maybe.

We just havent heard much, if anything about it and with SO MANY posts about Pre Mades and Comms and blah blah blah, we it seems they have a solution already there, just integrate into the game and add the download in a patch so the average joe player has only to plug in a mic IF he wants Voice Comms. I know that sounds easy and with programming, nothing is as easy as it sounds, but it is a solution and we have heard nothing really more about it.

Pretty much like what vettie said. My 2 buddies and I use C3. It works fine. We have a private channel and typically we fire up C3 and jump in our channel and see if any of us are on. Load up MWO and get a group going and commence with the shiny metal butt kicking.

As Viper stated, and I have stated in a previous thread, DDO has included an integrated voice chat for groups that works quite well. Simple to use and makes the pug doable. Have an auto dump into a channel with the folks on your team and off you go.

The option to mute would be golden too, as some folks just need muting. :)

Having played a few games that have built in voip, it seems that more often than not people will still use their tried and tested 3rd party apps for comms. Especially since many who are steady voice comm users are part of gaming guild/communities that already have their own established servers.

It's not surprising that integrated comms would be on the back burner. It just sucks for those who don't use the servers that have been listed in these forums that don't want to use a 3rd party app.

I think it would have been more popular if it had a lobby feature.
