Not once  Both in Open and Closed Beta phases...

i am in sins as well, and there most certainly is a nda. right when you install the game you have to agree with it.

either you are spouting bs, or you aren't attentive to your install processes

1. this thread is absolutly a "try to get on the dev's nice side" thread. it doesn't give any actually useful information on what a NDA is or why companies require it. it tries to be cute, and really long winded in a attempt to hide what it really is behind humor.

NDA's are required mainly to make sure to limit negative press impact of an unfinished game made available to the public, while at the same time promoting the game by allowing select users to try it out and give feedback (that will or will not be listened to, it really varies by company). companies know full well their userbase understands what beta means, its a legal and pr deal.

the vast majority of beta's i have been in (and alphas in some cirucmstances) have all allowed you to confirm that you were in the beta, but no other information is allowed out.

Somehow I really doubt your forum activity is going to have a drastic effect on your BEta selection. The devs are much more likely to pick based upon the most varied possible hardware spreads to detect compatibility issues.

Or completely randomly, for that matter.

If you don't like it, why don't you stop posting your garbage in it?

Ah, because you can't...

Then you have both broken that NDA and I hope the Lawyers don't find out. LOL

my garbage?? i did what you did not when you created this thread. i gave accurate and reliable answers to what an nda is and if it would limit you to not being able to tell people if you were in it.

there was a post a little later pointing to a dev saying there was a good chance if you found out someone was playing that they could possibly have broken their nda, but doesn't specifically say that you cannot say you are or are not in beta.

after this, i have just been replying to side conversations involving things i have talked about.

you, on the other hand, created a wall of text trying to be cute telling a story, being constantly demeaning to your readerbase, on the verge of insulting them with evey other sentence. all in an attempt to make yourself visible. so who is posting garbage? i thought so...

no, if you read it. it specifically states that you can say you are in the beta. but cannot discuss the details of the beta. which is par for the course on closed beta nda agreements. (of which i have participated in many, well over 15 and most of them AAA titles)

Just checking your "uptightness" setting. Pretty tight over-all. Maybe a cool beverage would help with that...

I wonder if the NDA will permit you to say that you are playing the beta... or if that's off limits too. I want to know if people have received codes already so I can get my hopes down.

No you will not be able to. -

Post count has nothing to do with Closed Beta access.

And if you find out someone is in Closed Beta, there's a good chance that person broke their NDA.

But I suspect that PGI will announce when they have finished sending out the first round of invites. Also nice to see that just because you have two or three thousand posts it doesn't mean you are automatically in closed beta.

Thank you for being fair to the rest of us devs!

Spouting BS? No... attentive to my install process? No... I just installed it and went straight to work playing ;) Since then I've reported a few issues and suggestions to Ironclad regarding Sins: Rebellion. Do I speak about the details of the game to folks on the Sins Forums? Nope... I know what a NDA is since I work in a law firm that works specifically with estate planning and intellectual property. Do not disclose details, do not share with those not signed up for Beta phase, etc. It's all the same in the end, abuse your rights and get legally bent over... Not once has that happened in the Beta I participated in... cool your jets folks and stop getting bitter and **** :(

If I want to insult the readerbase here, trust me, they'll know their being insulted.

And if anyone is trying to make themselves visible by posting garbage, my first vote will still go to you.

So continue on, and welcome to the forums.

~shrugs~ NDA's are par for the course, having both signed a good many, and sent a few out in some of my other gigs these shouldn't come as any large surprise to anyone. It's hard not to tootle about something especially when you're first in and it's even harder on us game journalists who want to cheer or rant but it's one of the costs of doing business. Even in a short beta cycle some things need to be kept quiet partly because of the proprietary nature of the content to the fact that during beta cycles, things can change/break/be fixed and so on. Don't like it? Sorry, why not go play Tetris till the game releases then.

So... If you know someone who got a beta invite, can you turn them in and get their access to beta? It could all be handled via Private Message so nobody knows you are a rat... :P
