That if I can learn to be effective in a medium then I will be in good shape when I move up to heavies. But it is getting real hard for us mediums out there. Love running my hunch but you had better not make a mistake and always be aware of where everyone is. Hey every once in a while could you dang stalkers wander around alone, please.

I run Cicadas almost exclusively, so I kind of can see where you're coming from, even though it's basically a glorified light. One mistake and you're critical, with lights or mediums.

I run my hunchback like a bawss. Usually end up with average 700-800 damage per match and a few kills. I don't get why everyone is saying mediums are useless because I do great in mine.

However, I have never used an Centurion, Hunchback wise, when I see people complain I just dont understand it.

Yeah I turned the wrong way this morning right into the path of the opfor main body. Unloaded an alpha into an atlas mug and melted his cockpit. I wasn't even able to finish celebrating before I was down. :-). Still had to smile though.

I gotta say, mediums are pretty squishy. Especially the hunchy.

I find it best to run from cover to cover when I can. Feels a little like the game armed assault at times. Open ground is usually a no, no.

I only run mediums in PUGs all the time and my K/d ratio only goes up. :P Plus I see many of them on the battlefield. Nope, mediums have their place and do it well. :D

Don't feel like you have to master mediums to run heavies and assault mechs. They all have their own good and bad sides. No pun intended. Run them and have fun.

Hunchbacks and mediums in general still have their place. Its has just become a smaller place, because you don't have ECM and no big alpha.

You just have to be much more careful and aware about cover and ECM. Speed and AMS will keep you alive, so maybe throw in a 250 Engine, that should get you to around 90 kph.

Hit & Run is the bread and butter of Hunchbacks, do not engage in prolonged fights, avoid open areas when possible and weave between buildings/cover.

People are complaining because of two reasons:

1st: there are only 2 mechs that play like a medium. CN9-D and Dragon.

2nd: Because of this, you get other wanna-be heavies that are mostly bested in every aspect by actual heavies.

I play best in a medium, a centuron CN9-A I think the key is to have a little extra speed and to say away from XL engines, I have a standard 300 in mine and with the speed skill I hit about 92kph. I can dodge and weave my way through just about anything. I do good damage and get a few kills on average per match.

You're probably not going to learn much about running heavies or assaults from running a medium unless you down grade the engine to about 60kph.

Mediums are great fun in pug games.

Upgrade the engine so you can get in and out of combat fast then trail a friendly heavy/assault mech and when it engages run in and mess up the enemy while they're distracted

The CN9-D is the first mech I actually mastered, with all the elites in the CN9-A and CN9-AL to unlock the master level. Frankly, I chose the CN9-D simply because every other 50 ton mech is limited to a 260 engine at best. If I could put that 300XL in a CN9-AL I would and use that mech. Has that changed recently?

I run almost exclusively Cents and for the most part I do pretty decent in them. Not much scares me except the Stalkers...but then again there made to punch big ugly holes in defences so there doing what there supposed to......wait aren't Mediums supposed to be able to do that to Lights?

There's actually not that much difference armor-wise between the Hunch and some of the heavies. Yeah they get more points but it's mostly in the legs. The difference in side torso armor between my Hunch and a Catapult/phract is about 4 points. 10 point difference in the CT.
