Generally, its due to a server de-sync. Your client no longer updates along with the server, so everybody stops and you deal no damage, because your client is not in contact with the server in a proper way anymore.

Also, if you can move, but everything else is still or walking-in-place, that means your computer is no longer receiving position updates about anything else on the field... you've probably suffered a disconnection from the server.

Yea, it would be better if I was actually just disconnected. But in my case everyone is still moving, but the action I performed was not registered? So turning to shoot someone I do it then it lags then it shows me walking forward, I know a couple guys were talking about this last night. Not sure what it is tho.

Like so many other issues, this seems to be down to packet loss between the client and the server (same issue that caused all the broken mechlab problems I think)
