Okay, let us start with a guide to my guide. I will not be using the names of mech's just to save space, I am using the catalog numbers to identify mechs, such as AS7-D. From here out, my abbreviations will be:
GXP - General Experience Points
MXP - Mech Experience Points
CB - C-Bills
MC - Mech Credits
YLW - Yen Lo Wang
ILYA - Ilya Muromets
XP - Experience Points (generalized term covering both MXP and GXP)
Okay, let us start with the Mechs, beginning at Light, and going up through Assault. Hero Mechs are listed last as they are MC only mechs.

Next up, is a break down of the XP costs as well as the MC price to convert MXP into an equal amount of GXP.
MXP exchange to GXP is on a basis of 25 MXP to 25 GXP at 1 MC per 25 MXP so converted. Example you wish to exchange 2950 MXP and make them GXP. This will cost you a nice 118 MC. While this sounds startlingly cheap, and on paper it is, what you need to take into consideration, is, well, just how much GXP you will need down the road for your Pilot Tree upgrades.
First however, I will address the issue of MXP.
Regardless of what mech you take out, be it a Light Mech or an Assault Mech or anything in between, you end up paying the SAME MXP per box on each variant in a given chassis.
You have 3 tiers of MXP to go through. First is Basic, then Elite, and finally MASTER. While, at first glance, this sounds easy and quick, it is not. In order to go up a tier, like Basic to Elite for example, you must fill in the Basic Tier 3 times. Then from Elite to Master, you must fill in Elite 3 times. Master, only 1 time, but then again, you can do this as many times as you wish.
Okay, the MXP per Tier is this:
Basic: 750 - 1,000 - 1,000 - 1,500 - 1,500 - 2,500 - 2,500 - 3,500 for a total of 14,250 MXP do this 3 times, and you have spent a total of 42,750 MXP across 3 variants in 1 chassis. This is only for 3 sets of Basic, the minimum needed to advance a Mech Chassis to Elite Tier on the FIRST variant of your choice.
Up next is your Elite Tier. Rest a bit easier, as it is only 4 boxes, but, even more MXP.
3,000 - 4,000 - 6,000 - 8,500 for a total of 21,500 MXP and over 3 variants in ONE chassis: 64,500 MXP. Again, these numbers reflect the minimum amounts of XP to move up a tier on ONE Chassis over each of 3 variants.
Master Tier. Congratulations you have unlocked MASTER Tier, a nice tier that unlocks after 21,500 MXP an EXTRA Module Slot on THAT particular Mech Variant. Do this as many times across the Chassis and its Variants as you wish.
Okay, the above, is some incredible grinding out there, and it feels rough, I know, but, it is rougher. The Hardest grind <IF you do not spend your MC to convert MXP into GXP> is up next, the Pilot Trees.
This is the hardest grind yet, as it requires ALL General Experience Points <GXP> to achieve all the unlocks. Harder yet, is that you must do this on a Chassis by Chassis and I believe Variant by Variant basis.
Pilot Trees
Vision: Enhanced Zoom: 5,000 GXP
Target: 360 Radar: 15,000 GXP
Support: Capture <speeds up the capture process> 15,000 GXP
Sensor: Sensor Range: 5,000 GXP Target Information: 10,000 GXP
Total GXP needed for total unlock: 50,000 GXP. Again, I believe this to be a per variant basis per chassis.
This is a staggering amount of GXP to grind out, especially if you do not spend MC to convert the much easier to acquire MXP. It is possible to do with out spending a single MC it just will take considerably more time to do.
The last bit I will cover are your Modules and Upgrades.
Modules:
Enhanced Zoom CB 2,000,000
360 Degree Target Retention CB 6,000,000
Capture Accelerator CB 6,000,000
Sensor Range Increase CB 2,000,000
Target Information Gathering CB 4,000,000
To purchase all the modules to provide you with a better set of options will run you 20,000,000 CB.
Finally we cover upgrades to your variants, Again, this to the best of my knowledge is a per mech and variant thing.
Armor from standard to Ferro Fibrous is 260,000 CB
Standard Structure to Endo Steel Structure is 1,000,000 CB
Single to Double Heat Sinks* 750,000 CB
Artemis 750,000 CB
This covers the cost and XP break down that you will encounter in this game. I do not however cover the various prices of engines and other Mech Lab purchased items that you bolt into or onto your mech. Please take the time to explore and understand the Mech Lab and all of its intricacies when you first log into the game.
* Double Heat Sinks are ONLY a TRUE Double Value of 2.0 to the Standard Heat Sink's 1.0 heat dissipation values inside the engine, otherwise it is only a value of 1.5 instead of 2.0, BUT, the upside is, they weigh less and count for more, which is vital in some builds where running 20 Standard Heat Sinks is out of the question, so instead you run 10 Double Heat Sinks in order to make the build work. This last bit, of course is covered in various other threads out there, and is more in the spirit of builds, and not general costs.
