Is there a way to take screenshots of my Mech while playing? I mean I want pretty pictures of my own machine and camo patterns. Is there a 3rd person view free movable camera perspective for this?

AND ... while I am at it ... I want those pictures in pretty colors, all shiny and vibrant. In MWO, even the Mechbay is dull and depressing. I wanna clean my Mech and make it shine for the picture taking.

AND ... I want a weather button. For a sunny day. A normal day. It looks like the weather in the 31st century is really bad. All the time. Sometimes even very bad. Or is it just the dirty cockpit window?

P.S.: despite the whining tone of this post I really do enjoy the game and I am a happy camper when playing

Short answer is no. Be warned that asking this in game produces a Alt+F4 responce from most players.

I think you can take screenshots in game if you are in windowed mode, not full screen. Could someone confirm?

OK, so no pics of my Mech right now.

That means if I had the nerve to ask others to take e screenshot of me in battle they would quit the game, right?

No, lol They would say "For 3rd person press Alt+F4". Someone might be kind enough to take a screenshot of your mech and post it though.
