Me in my Atlas D

300 XL
2 LL's
2 SRM 6's
1 Gauss Rifle
1 AMS system
I think 27 heat sinks (single)

I actually forgot to load modules before I entered this match, so whoops!

Recorded in Fraps at 1680x1050 for framerate playability (I normally play at 1920x1080, but with Fraps going it's a bit too much of a FPS drop, so i drop it to 1680 for recording purposes).

Let me know if you have any feedback or suggestions. This video has no gameplay sound, just my narration after the fact. This is because I'm a tard and had Howard Stern playing in the background and I didn't realize it would also record that too, so when I played it back the first time I heard the game and Howard Stern, AND my narration, so I had to take the fraps video sound out before I added the narration.

Lol, forgot the effing link:

I prefer narration videos to just pointless music playing while you try to show a few people how awesome you are. I like them even more if the person doing the talking doesn't think he's god's gift to the mechwarrior universe. I think stuff like this video is more valuable to new players. Good vid.

Thank you for the embed!

Also yeah, I don't try to come off as superior in any videos I put out because frankly there's always going to be someone better than me. I just try to give as much information as possible.

Now when I'm playing I'll be yelling at my monitor sometimes if I see dumb decisions, but otherwise I try to be calm.

Borisof007 that is a good thing you do for the community here. Good pointers to either teach or remind people how to survive.

I liked the part when you turn around and say 'Luckily it's only a raven' I can't imagine a lot of people thinking that at the moment. Video is really cool though dude, look forward to more. Do the Hunchy 4G, you're a Legendary so you'll have one!

Use this build

2 med pulse,
1 med
AC/20
3 tons ammo
Case
2 dbl heat sinks
standard 200 engine
endo
half a ton shaved from the legs.

run double heatsinks. keeping a 300xl, you can run your same build with 12 tons to spare, assuming you drop the ams, and still have higher heat dissipation (29.8 effective).

alternatively, with that same build you can actually go to a standard 300 and save that dangerous gauss+xl engine combo, have 32.6 effective shs dissipation, and either have more armor than you need in the feet or bring an extra ton of ammo somewhere

alternatively you can go up to a 350xl, have more heat disspiation, and move a lot faster, and have tonnage free

and if you like keeping the ams you can do all of that, but keep the ams, and still have higher heat dissipation, etc

Actually everything is somewhat necessary due to critical slot limitations. I can't run dhs in this build because of crit space.

Not using the atlas ddc for ecm AND an XL engine, that's just a death sentence.

I use the Atlas D exclusively for brawling, so I avoid the XL engine.

4X ML
2X SRM 6 (2X ammo)
1X AC 20 (2X ammo)
AMS (1X ammo)
Endo
DHS
STD 350 engine (Could fit 355, but not worth it over 0.8 KPH increase in speed)

For me the Atlas is a brawler first and foremost. If you want to do range support, there are better choices out there.

ECM'd XL Atlas are generally the ones that are focussed first haha

yes you can
here's the standard 300 version, kept the ams but if you drop it you can get another dhs in. also if you drop the legs to 57 you can get another ton of ammo in (57 is still plenty, and few people try to leg atlases). currently 18dhs = 31.2 shs equivalent

here's the xl 350 version, if you're fine with an xl engine and a gauss rifle (my personal preference would be to swap it out for an ac10 or dual ac5's or the like). again, 31.2 equivalent, but now, 2 tons ams ammo, 4 tons gauss ammo, 4 tons srm6 ammo (so 1 more ton of every kind of ammo). plus you move a lot faster, torso twist faster, accelerate/decelerate faster, turn faster, etc

eh, one of my atlases uses an xl engine, and very rarely do i die from a side torso kill (double digit kdr. yeah yeah meaningless stat blah blah). the higher rated engine allows me to get in and out of engagements faster and turn/twist faster to shield the side torsos. as long as you know to start twisting when you're fresh, and not just after a side torso gets exposed, you can last a lot longer. plus, the atlas's arms have one of the better hitbox profiles as far as being able to shield the torso from fire

that said, whenever i run 8man, it's ddc+ecm+standard engine

Well shiet. I upgraded to DHS, put in a standard 300 and replaced the gauss for an AC 20 for kicks, did 1,100 damage on my first match.
