Just to make certain, the Yen-Lo-Wang counts for the three variant rule to Elite/Master, right? I really would not want to have to buy an A Variant if I can avoid it as I prefer the D and AL.

Correct. The Hero mechs count for their respective mech type for skill purposes.

Perfect, thank you. There is just something about the CN9-D that I just cannot seem to like. Either I take a big enough engine to lay in some speed or I take a big enough AC to make that worth while. I may just buy one to make a missile boat despite that it is lackluster at that (in my opinion).

Put up an LRM 20+ ER LLAS +streak srm2 on it. You will be amazed at how fun to play it becomes. You can kite the heck out of anything. I have another secret spec I could share but well... It's a secret <_<

Unless you want to put a stupid big engine in it or dual ballistics (in a 50T mech??) then the CN9-A is a better choice than the D due to the extra missle slot.

I actually think there is something to be said about a fastish Medium packing some LRMs - but I'm pobably going to wait for the Trebuchet before I give it a go (as I like to use mechs in their intended role).
